Ok, I've scoured the forums, emailed a few web sites and did a Google search but I can'f come up with a definite answer.

I'm interested in getting the Ipod integration kit for my CX-9.
Car specs:
2011 CX-9, Non-Nav, Bose Audio and Sirius.

I was told by mazdagear.com that I only needed this part: GEA1-79-970 (New iPod Cable - USB type). They even asked me for my VIN for confirmation.

However, a few other sites are saying I need: TD91-79-CFZA and C9F9-V6-029

To confuse me even more, I even stumbled upon a memo sent out by Mazdausa and it lists the following:

CX-9 (without Navi, with AUX Jack, with SIRIUS and Bluetooth) --> TD91-79-CFZ & C9F9-V6-029
CX-9 (Multi Information Display (MID) Audio) ---> GEA1-79-970

Doesn't my CX-9 have the MID audio display too?

I contacted a local dealer to see how much it would be to install the integration kit.
I didn't get part numbers but they told me that the total cost including labor would be $560.
If I bought the kit and had them install it, they would charge me $145. That leads me to believe that they are installing TD91-79-CFZ & C9F9-V6-029 ?

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!!!

That head unit is the same as my 2010 Mazda 6 sGT that has Bose MID/Display but no Nav. The buttons are a bit different to go with the CX 9 center stack design, otherwise I am 98% sure it's the same head unit. That said you only need the cable (GEA1-79-970). I also purchased the cable for my 6 and it worked like a charm (full TTAG data and album navigation, well worth the price IMO). The other parts are for nav Bose systems, not the MID/Display Bose system. You can also check Mazdas USA website under accessories for the right part. Msrp was about $90.

Btw you could easily install the cable yourself in an hour. You just need to be careful (e.g. Use towels to protect the plastics, radio disply and be gentle with the retaining clips). I did it in my 6 and actually ran the cable to the armrest instead of the glovebox (I drilled a hole and added a grommet to finish off the hole). The CX 9 is a bit different but the cable comes with the instructions to take apart the dash on both the 6 and 9. The kit also comes with foam pads to quell buzzes as needed. Also keep in mind that the cable ends in a female connector, so you'll need a standard apple USB to 30 pin iPod cable to run to your iPod.

Oh and it will work with an iPhone BUT you need to do a bit of a dance to get it working over the dock connection and not BT. You'll need to connect the iPod after the system pairs with Bluetooth in order for the iPod to use the dock and not BT. You also need to keep calls over handsfree BT to under 20ish seconds otherwise the iPod app will timeout and you'll get a "check device error. Or you can turn the audio off (by pressing the left dial)!right before you make or get a call. I've actually become quite adept at clicking the stereo off just as the system is getting a call. There is a 5 second space between when the system pauses playback and switches to BT handsfree. If you get the "check device" error you'll need to unplug/plug in the the iPod to reset.

However a regular iPod, touch, classic etc. Works seamlessly and you can still pair a handsfree cell to bt.

Hope this helps
