I personally got a X3 racing CAI which is designed just like the Injen. I like it alot for what I paid. I will recommend you get a AEM bypass value. I have had the Intake for over 2 years and have not had any water problems. I hope that helps and other chim in.

i have an injen, and i like it. no bypass valve, and i drove the car all winter. you will be fine without the bypass, unless you go forging some rivers.

njaremka, darn straight I forge rivers! (lol2) Seriously though, all it takes is a deep puddle to sneak up on you. A fellow tuner had a AEM and the bypass and hit a puddle. He could not avoid it and the bypass saved his motor. It made a poping sound. Personally I would not take the chance.

Injen and AEM are both great intakes, but you don't need to spend that much. What is important is the filter that you use. You will have just as good an intake if you buy one off ebay for $35, and put a k&n filter on the end. The difference between between Injen or AEM and an ebay intake is in the name. If you want to pay $200 for a name then go ahead. After all, we are talking about aluminum tubing here.

i go through puddles all the time, no problems. i don't want to sound like an ass either, but how do you know the engine would have been toast if the bypass WASN'T there?

i wish they had a more stepped intake like the AEM V2. that would be nice. my injen seems so small compared to other intakes.

njaremka, no problem, I saw a joke opening and I took it. :D Actually, I experienced the AEM working from a fellow protege driver. The money question is would you chance your motor? The stock intake has precautions in the case water gets in the intake. The aftermarket intakes do not take this precautions, and they make it easier to have the water sucked up. I have heard too many cars get hydro-locked. Heck, it well mentioned on the newtiburon forums. Well just take this warning and do what you like. I am here to just give information.

no you don't need the bypass. i've had that aem cai for 4 years.
and our calgary winters can probably get just as bad, if not, worse than your ontario one.

they both work good, they both are designed to do the job

I have Simota intakes in stock. Perfect fit and a great intake for the money.
Lots of my previous customers here will vouch for it.

The standard CAI is only $85.00 plus shipping. If you are just in London Ontario I only would charge $20.00
And if you are worried about a wet filter I also sell water-repellant filter covers for an additional $18.00
