not sure if this is Performance or not...

So i have a 2002 Protege5 with the Stock Brakes and i need some new pads... does anyone know what are some good pads to get that will fit on the stock brakes and where to get them (prefereably a place online)?

That or u could just buy the new complete assembly rotors, pads lines from StopTech. They have 13 inch rotors for our mp3 and p5

we at autornd will have a new Rotora kit coming soon, consisting of 4 drilled/slotted rotors, and Axxis pads.

i think we might even have a few in stock. :)

i think you need 17" to use the stop tech. perfect if ya got an mp3.

There are no rear aftermarket protege brake pads only fronts. You could do hawks or something in the front and OEMs in the back.

Cool, all i need right now are the rears anyways and i just ordered some from Mazdaformance.com...

so what are Hawks? are they good? better than AXXIS?

i know i can get AXXIS ULTIMATE front Pads from stoptech.com for the 2002 Mazda Protege (not Protege5) for $59... not sure if it makes a difference since they dont say Protege5...

does anyone have performance pads? if so, do they really help? Im at 31,000 still using the original pads. i will need to replace them soon. i read a comparison article that said the hawk werent much better than stcok. i think it was tested on a WRX.

Can a dealer check your brakes without doing to much work (ie $$$ :) )? Is there an indicator on the caliper or something you can look at? I'm at 25,000 and am considering having them checked at my oil change next week.

If you take the wheel off of your car, there is a small "view" hole in the brake caliper that you can look through to inspect the pads. This will let you know how much material is left on your brake pads without disassembling anything. Remember, the inner pad (closest to the engine) will usually have more wear than the outer one, due to the sliding caliper design.

Like I said, no rear pads.

ya the rear pads and rear rotors are under the Protege 5 link. remember guys some of us in here are proteges and protege 5s. youd think they would be under the proteges also since the 4 wheel disc proteges and P5 use the same brakes.
