I'm finally going to switch to MT-90 and i'm getting excited since i hear alot of good things about it. Only probelm is i don't have any dealers close by. Anybody know where i can get it for a good price? and/or in the NY area
P.S. takes 3 qrts. to capacity, correct?

Yeah it does take 3 quarts. After going thru redline mt90, royal purple synmax, and motul. I believe I like the royal purple the best out of the three.

Go to the Red Line website for a list of mail order and local dealers:
www.redlineoil.com

Capacity is 2.83 US quarts.

well, i called advance and they can't even order the stuff. and i never heard of autobarn, where's that?

advance in FL can special order redline for me. . thats what i did

autobarn is an autoparts store chain on long island. . dont know if they have them out anywhere else in NY

thanks for the help guys, but i finally picked it up not to far from me at this speed shop. i heard about shockproof, but i wanted to stick with the closes viscosity oil i could get and the mt-90 in right in spec. with the stock gear oil. and i also hear nothing but good things about it.

oh man, big difference with the new redline tranny fluid. NO MORE GRINDING! and very smooth shifting, i recommend mt-90 all the way!

did u use all mt-90? and no shockproof? i was goin to use 2 bottle of mt-90 then a bottle of shockproof. any other combos?

I'm curious as to why anyone would use ShockProof oil in a Protege M/T since Red Line specifically warns against its use here. Red Line makes three classes of oils for M/T cars: Synthetic M/T lubricant (MTL and MT-90); Synthetic Gear Oil; and ShockProof Gear Oil.

According to Red Line, MTL and MT-90 are the recommended oils for M/T's with synchronizers as they have the appropriate coefficient of friction for most M/T synchronizers. Red Line claims that many gear oils, engine oils and ATF's are too slippery for proper synchro engagement.

The ShockProof oils (SuperLight, Lightweight and and Heavy ShockProof) are not recommended for synchro-type transmissions as Red Line considers these oils too slippery for optimal synchro engagement.

In the Gear Oil category, with one exception, these oils are also not recommended for the same reason-they are too slippery and thus prevent rapid synchronization. The one exception is 75W-90NS because, according to Red Line, "this gear oil doesn't contain the friction modifiers for limited-slip hypoid differentials. This makes the transmission synchronizers come to equal speeds more quickly, allowing faster shifting and much easier low-temperature shifting."

Based on the foregoing, why use anything but the manufacturer-recommended oil?

I had read that also. I know that the MP3 uses a G4 transmission oil, MT90 is a G4 oil and I don't know about the shockproof.

i used 3 qrts of mt-90 with no shockproof. Shockprrof, like every knows, is not recommended for our kind of trannies. mt-90 has the closes make up to our stock gear oil, and is meant for our trannies.

I've heard others say that BG syncroshift II is "the Best." And s***....it should be for $22.00 a quart.....too rich for my blood.

I tried to have Redline ordered, but Advanced told me 3 weeks. Of course I went to the one by my house that hires solely on the lack of teeth and automotive knowledge. I went to a local race shop, got Amsoil instead that day. Looked up online, here you go:
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mtg.aspx

someone told me pep boys stocks royal purple, too, but I am not sure. I do not shop there.
