Title says it all.
Where can I buy a high flow catalytic converter?
I have seen some in Jegs and other style mags but I am not sure of there quality.

Anyone know of a good place or good brand to get?

Catco universal cats from summit may work. Thing is, I doubt very much a 'Hi-Flow' cat is any different than an OEM cat. Then again, the Hi-Flow cat is probably 1/3 the price. I use a Catco 3" on my Probe...seems fine.

Random Technology makes some of the better ones. Magnaflow's work well, too, but I've only had that on my old 1980 Celica. Here's the sites:

Random Technology:

Magnaflow:

If you want one designed for the Protege's, here's the site for a company that makes both a high flow downpipe (Coming out very soon, e-mail them about it) and a high flow midpipe, that is already linked off the page. All of these bolt up to stock equipment, which is nice:

Hope that helps. =)

call summit racing and get a universal high flow made by catco. make sure it does not have an inlet for an air pump. they are about 55$

darin, the cats all are about the same your right. the difference with the "high Flow" is that it has a higher flow capacity. that is of course if the rest of the system is about or the same diameter.

i have radom technology high flow cats.

Im not sure if it for a custom aplication but andy wagner sells a mid pipe with a bellow and high flow cat that bolts up to dtock locations on proetege`.

I have CATCO because I got a deal for switching my stock exhaust with someone. I wish I would have gotten a Random Tech HiFLO Gat now.

What makes a Random technology better. I just got it because andy wagner recomends them and uses them.

Any kinda of noticable difference with these? Sound, performance, passing emissions, CEL?

I had a dramatic difference being boosted, the stock cat is a huge restriction. The inside of the stock cat looks almost solid, you can not even see light through it but that is what I expected with this car being ULEV. You can almost see straight through the Random Tech and no CEL.

Wshade, what size did you use for the hole qxhuast?
Did you get a certain modle of cat from Random Tech?

The entire exhaust is 2.5"and the cat is the 8100 Bullet Series, the same one we use on the Vette's, 2.5"inlet and 2.5" outlet. Don't be fooled by other brands. Random is the only way to go but you will pay for it. Read the entire article below, I have found this to be very true:

The 8100 Bullet Series - designed for vehicles with severe space limitations, Random Technology Bullet converters are only 4" in diameter and 8" long. Universal models have an overall length (including end tubes) of 11-1/2".

use a cat from a 5.7 GM change the pipe sizes to suit your exhaust taking care to deburr the edges. this cat is one of the best for a high output 4. the best is GTR skyline, but there is no need for this.make sure you get one with low kays or it could be clogged

Nice exhaust WShade...

I was thinking of doing that myself, but I would have to get two cats in order to keep emissions regs in Colorado.

Hmmm, that was exactly what I wanted to do.

Random Technology here I come...
