Where is the 2009 Mazda6 for North America??

All I got to say is that one meets all sorts of interesting people when you go to a lot of races like me. ;)

/cryptic shameless Mazdaspeed corral plug

that worked (yupnope)

more cylinders = more weight. mazda likes curves.... if you want raw power buy another brand

Dude seriously, wtf? lol. There are ways to make the v6 lighter and very comparable to the inline 4. I'd like to know the weight difference between the 2.3L and the v6 in the current mazda6s.... and I'd like to know the difference between the new 2.5 and 3.7 liters, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not a huge difference of more than 300 lbs

To top it off a 3.6L TT v6 is going to shoot a speed6 faster down the line than a single turbo 2.5L engine..... you can say more cylinders = more weight, but you'll be saying it while you're behind the guy with those 2 more cylinders.

Example:
the current 2.3L MZR DISI..... putting a gt3076r on those cars, people say they don't start to really spool until what..... 5k rpm, right? Maybe later than that? Look how much room you have to play with... if spool time is 5k and redline is 6.7k..... each time you shift you're gonna drop PAST 5k the 5k, and your enjoy has to play "catch up" to get in it's powerband.

2 more cylinders = 2 more cylinders of exhaust gases = more exhaust gas to spool the turbine. Result: quicker/sooner spool time of said turbo, and MORE room to play with before redline and having to shift.

Mod for mod.... 2.5L with a big gt35r, and 3.7L with gt35r.... which one do you seriously think is going to be faster? You could even say gt3076r on the 2.5L and one on the 3.7L.... the 3.7L is going to have quicker spool time, thus less lag, why? more exhaust gases pushing the turbine.

Hell my GF's mazda6 is the v6.... that's like what 220 hp right? I'm pretty sure if I took the k04 off my speed6 and installed it on her car, that thing would be faster than my speed6.

2nd example:
How about comparing the v6 mustang to the GT mustang? base models, both manual transmission.... the v6 curb weight is 3,300 lbs. Guess what the GT is pulling in...... 3,450 lbs. 150 lbs difference. on 2 more cylinders... and that thing can run a 13.5 compared to what the v6 runs with almost 100 hp less? (which certainly isn't a 13.5)

I dunno about you, but I'll take those 2 more cylinders AND the extra weight they'll bring. (2thumbs)

Quick note... jalopnik.com has some new interior shots of the new north america 6

Yeah I saw that.... I don't like the square vents for the center console.... should have stuck with the circles.

Dash looks very borrowed from an RX-8, along with the frontend on the car in the first place, LOL overall looks nice.

i took some shots of a parked 6 today here in london. ill try to upload them later. thing is fat..... and not with a "p-h"

Wow that sucker looks big..... Judging from the pics (hard to tell without seeing it in person) but I gotta say, the shape and size looks like it's comparable to the new model Lexus GS.... geez

The Euro and JDM versions are practically the same weight as the previous gen 6i though.

Yeah but why the hell would I buy a 6i? The 2.3L can barely move the Mazda3 as is, to what I would consider "fast"

so v6 for me only : \

I guess I'm the only one that appreciates borrowing gram engineering from the MX-5 development to develop the Euro/JDM 6.

I think those foglight brackets would look good painted body color. And I think the car could do without the chrome around the windows.

I guess, I don't live in Europe, or Japan.... and it would most likely cost MORE to own one of those Mazda6, than a states 6... because you would have to buy it, overseas ship it, and then do any of the necessary "safety conversions" to it (like the JDM would need the windshield replaced, they don't have the safety glass we use).

1. You will see the next speed 6 in the US as a 2011 model (released in late 2010). The next speed model for the 09 and 10 years will be the mx-5 with the 2.3L DISI turbo detuned (smaller radiator and intercooler).

2. A Gt30r absolutely does NOT spool slow on this motor. If you search the other mazda3 forum, the gt30r dyno shows the guy is making nearly 300wtq at 3600rpm, peaking at 345whp at 6000rpm.

The funny thing is that more people prefer and want the Euro/JDM styling than the USDM body. Not a surprise at all considering when the 6 first launched, people also preferred the JDM body even back then.

In any event, Mazda accomplished an awesome engineering job of keeping weight down - something that I think we'll see more of from other companies in order to stay competitive in the global auto market.

yeah but which GT30 turbo is it? 3071 or 3076? There's a difference, I'm thinking the guy has a 3071... and the 3076 spools in the later RPMs... a peak HP at 6k rpm isn't all that great considering the throttle plate closes before that. sounds pretty useless, impressive numbers on a dyno, but how does it fare out at the strip or on the street (aka roll race like everyone does these days)?

I have no doubt about that.... The JDM market seems to get the "better" designs of import cars. Take the speed6... the M'z Tune speed6 comes with some nice looking front bumper valanches, but we can't get those in america, cause if you try calling the dealer, they have specific serial/VIN numbers for the M'z Tune MS6s, and if yours doesn't match they won't letyou buy it either. Gay ass Mazda....(stooges)
