Where is my gas going?

I have noticed that when I drive 80+ mph commuting to work, gas tanks a lot. Steady 75 mph, 30+. But on I-75 out here, less than 80 mph is hard to do.

Has anyone considered the differences in gasoline quality from station to station, state to state? Check out smartgas.net. Supposedly adding 2-4 ounces of 100% acetone per 10 gallons of gas makes the fuel vaporize & combust much more effeciently improving MPG. Supposedly any alcohol mixed in the gas is counterproductive to MPG, engine life, & oil quality. Certain gas brands & certain states allow more of this. Lots of interesting info to consider on that site. Has anyone tried the spark plug gap reduction + adding acetone to gas? Says if you use too much it will lower MPG & the tailpipe will be cleaner but good for 10 - 50% better MPG if mixture dialed in right. Check out the ulta MPG tuneup section. Anybody use Torco products?

We use 100% acetone at our company so I'm going to try it on our leased van to see what it does. I'll keep everyone posted.

As for the bad gas mileage well majority of the drop was due to very low tire pressure which was not noticeable. The other part I assume is due to the excessive oil that has now clung on to the MAF that was in the used filter that I put on. I don't have time right now but when the car goes in for storage I will put on a new filter, clean the sensor, put new plugs and wires and when I take it out of storage some new oil. Hopefully the problem will be gone if not the CAI is coming off.
