Wheels and Tires for my P5

Protege 5, 2003 Blue
I'm original owner of 2003 Protege 5 and I'm a happy camper. Only 65 000 km (45 000 miles) and all I've had to replace is the oil, gas and an O2 sensor. I'm overdue for tires though, in a big way. In my youth I was a "tire buster". We'd get guys in often with brand new rides that were just dying to get custom wheels and chubby new tires. They'd just leave their "old" wheels and tires behind without a thought. These guys were really good for the economy. I'm hoping they still exist and I can find some new wheels and tires for my P5.

So, my question is: What new Mazda wheels and tires (together, mounted and balanced) fit my P5? I'll need to start phoning around and looking in used classifieds but I need to know what I'm looking for.

Thanking you in advance,

Tom

Oops...

I left out a few replaced items: spark plugs around 45 000 km (25 000 miles), EGR valve, the usuals.

So, I've done some research and it looks like the newer M3 wheels and tires will fit and I'll get an extra inch in wheel diameter. Can anyone confirm this? Are there any other "take-offs" I can consider?

Is this the best local for this post?

Thanking you once again in advance,

-Tom

Hellooooo

87 views and nobody can tell me if this is an apprpropriate place on the forum for my question.

New Mazda wheel and tire compatibility for a 2003 Protege 5???

Anyone, anyone, Buler, Buler...

Come on, what kind of place is this Mazda247, are you all asleep?

Hellooooooo...

RX-8 wheels are a common option... also Mazda3 or 6 and Speed3 and Speed6. Just not sure on the tires they come with but you may need some small 5mm spacers.

FD rx7 wheels fit, may need a small spacer to clear strut or calipers
rx8 wheels fit
MX-5 miata wheels fit
Mazda 5/6 wheels fit
mazda 3 wheels fit
mazda tribute wheels fit

basically any mazda that came in a 5x114.3 bolt pattern has wheels that will fit

I like these wheels, just waiting till spring. I used a roll over speed car, and got all the stuff to work on the P5..:)(p5blue)

I too am in need of some new tires, and since I'm getting some money back from uncle sam i plan on getting some rims as well. I like some of the options on tire rack for 17 and 18, but im too concerned that 18s wont fit, especially since i'm planning on lowering at the same time.

18's will fit but you need to watch both width and offset and your recommended tire size will be 215/35/18. In addition you will more than likely have to roll your rear fenders to prevent rubbing.

To the OP...justanothermp5 said it best.....any of the newer Mazda wheels with the 5 bolt lug pattern will fit* I've had 05 Tribute wheels and now have 06 MX-5 base 16's....just love that OEM look. ;)

*RX8 may require some fender rolling depending on your ride height....FD wheels will require spacers and fender rolling....

I've only replaced the tires--there are either Dunlops (great performance, but wear out quickly) or Goodyear Eagle's which are plentiful. I buy my stuff at TireRack.com

Don't settle for anything else. I had these awful "generic" tires and hated them the entire time I owned them.
