Wheel well liner material, front vs rear?

Just an odd thing I noticed, and curious if this was expected or not, but on my 2021 CX5 I noticed that the rear wheel wells have the carpeted/felt like sound deadening material, but the front wheel wells are just hard/smooth material. I can't say I've ever owned a vehicle where it wasn't consistent front to back, so...is that normal? Yes, this is probably a dumb question, but there you go.

Yes..the 2018 is like that as well...the front is a little more durable... But it was still ripped to shreds by a road gator.

I will confirm too on the 2018, it is normal.
