Aside from look, there would be no benefit to you.... 8.5 would benefit in the front for traction but might not fit/need it.

No those were my 16x6 Rotas.
I found some old pics. I have repainted them, they are still silver, 1 has some scratchs and needs repainting. They have 4 205/45/17 summers on them. The tires were used 1 summer.

Depends on the rim. I had steel wheels that did not fit over the caliper on the speed3. Either way its always close with the 16s and the speed3. If the wheel is a 2 piece steel wheel that has beads of weld on the inside it might not fit, that was the problem with mine, the beads of weld are what rubbed on the caliper.
If you want to test it some time I am close or if you wanted to test it on the speed you are buying it might be a good idea.
But dont like 300 dollars in new wheels stop you from buying the car!! Sport Edition 16" alloys fit over the calipers, I run those in the winter, so does Zimmer.
Try it but I would doubt it. 16" rims from my P5 did not fit over my Miata front brakes.
