how much is he asking for it? and how many miles are on the car?

and it will cost between 500-1000 to get it repaired....if you decide to fix it before you break it then you can just have your stock one welded, which is cheaper than buying a replacement one (500), then have a transmission shop install it for probably about 500...if you break it first a new lsd will cost you 500 then welding costs and installation costs

basically: fix it first, 500....fix it after it breaks, 1000

that is an excellent price

I'm sure you could talk him down if thats what he is starting at but that is an excellent price nontheless

Yeah dude, i just need to get it checked out by a mechanic. The interior dials and steering wheel look oddly worn. And the engine aluminum looks like it's oxidizing or whatever so something tells me the engine has been swapped.
Do you guys know any other signs i should look for that would indicate it has a new engine?

I got mine on autotrader listed at 9, paid 8. had to get power steering flush, oil change (general minor maint stuff) but I loved it all the way home (bout 200 miles...) only beef is the sqqueeky/clunky suspension, but it handles like a dream so i can deal with a little noise (looking into fixing this eventualy...there's some stuff on here about how to do it fairly cheap...)...Before I bought it I read a thread about common problems with the MSP. you should read it and test drive it with those things in mind...the more things you find, the more you can talk him down :)

i noticed on that tamparacing thread that it says "if both rear and front motor mounts are replaced you may notice some vibrations". why is that?

Please update your location info, you can get LOCAL help from this forum also.

I couldn't find the VIN. If it ends in 43, see my pic at the top.(hand)

vibrations caused by aftermarket motor mounts - since it reduces engine movement, more of the engine vibration is transferred to the chassis since there's less of a 'buffer' between the two... I have upgraded front, rear and passenger-side mounts and there's definitely vibrations, but since it fixes the wheel hop, and is better for the trans (harder to mis-shift/grind gears) I think its way worth it. Others will argue, and if you can't stand the vibrations, you can get urethane inserts for the stock mounts which will reduce engine movement without causing massive vibrations inside. some find this the 'best of both worlds', but i'll have to defer to them for specifics..

yeah i live in the Atlanta area if anyone on here lives there let me know!
And does anyone have unlimited carfax reports and could run a vin for me?
