whatever you get, just remember that if you plan to speed, no matter how cool your detector is, you're still 100% screwed if a cop catches you with an instant-on when you're zoomin by all by your lonesome...=d

Got the $200 Cobra. Selectable detection (turned off annoying X band). Spectre and KU alerts in addition to the normal K and KA bands. Built in compass. Pretty nice piece for the price.

I have that too, but I plan on getting rid of it. It's so stupid and a POS really. It detects cops within maybe 100ft. that's it. This and it senses a HUGE amount of false alarms, which i hate.

I plan on getting the Beltronics Vector 955. It's only $179 and it beats other detectors within the $250 range.

I had a Cobra in my old Mazda... it saved me plenty of times except for once (I got nailed in Ohio where they use X band... I assumed it was just a truck CB or something). But I drive through Virginia a lot nowadays where RD's are illegal so I just leave it at home. I don't really speed that much anyway, sometimes I get the itch to go fast but it doesn't usually last long LOL.
