anyone know what the deal is with the gold?

all i know is the dealer said it was a special gold edition and i laughed at him and said, "there wasnt a special edition protege5, and i am not paying extra for the ugly badges"

did the dealer just put the badges on? did they just come on the ones with the all the options? i dont get why they would just randomly put gold badges on them, maybe to milk more money out of us?

I'm sure some goof ball actually though gold on cars was tasteful. Then proceded to pay the extra whatever for 'em.

unfortunately some people find those god awful things good looking so they would even pay more for them....Im sure the dealer can have them done or can be purchased specially through mazda

the gold edition has like 900WHP, AWD, nitrious kit, 25G Turbo, front mount intercooler, and 13" Gold Daytons Y0!

Dealers use aftermarket companies to do high profit add-ons: spoilers, pin striping, rustproofing, etc. One of the things they offer are the gold badges. The guys come to the dealership and actually plate the existing silver badges with a gold solution that electrically adheres to the silver of the badging.

Very ugly, pits easily, big profits for stealership!
