Whats with all the Animosity on this board?

In the past month or so, I've seen an increase in the number of responses like "Do you think what you fu**ing say before you type it?" or, "You are a damn fool if you believe that..." and "That was the stupidest damned response I've ever heard" about things so trivial as wrong information or misreading a response.

People, this is a Protege internet message board, not a size-of-your-penis-comparison message board. People should be spending more time helping others and less time bashing them...

At any rate I agree with Doomer that peeps ought to help themselves out... especially since Doomer is one of the OG's and has been with us since day one.

If anyone notices posts that you deem un-cool or un-protege'ish, you can report the post.. every post has a "report this post" link that you can use for that purpose.

Well there isn't A LOT of it just yet, but there is definitely an increase in it. I'm just saying I don't want this place to turn into these other protege boards .

I guess growth just brings in all types. Its also quite possible that people type things like I mentioned above, not trying to be demeaning at all, but not realizing that when read, it sounds that way.

Blech, I'm just ranting, I'll shut up now .

I've been on this message board for quite a while now and I must say that I haven't seen a real increase in responses like that expect for those occasions when that type of response is warranted. Meaning, someone needed they're attitude checked. I'm a firm believer that if someone says something really stupid or leaks out some really, really bad info, that they should be corrected in the appropriate manner. These type of disciplinary actions should only be taken by an admin or moderator. That's my take on it though.

I have the perception of more animosity on the board too. I cannot really pin point an exact thread, but I have noticed it.......or mabey I am suckin up to many NAAWWZZ fumes

Seriously my reasoning behind this is because. We have several new members that come on and ask the oldest or most known question out there like

How can I find the make number of my car
or
Do they make turbo kits for our car
or
Do you think I should use NAWZZ?

I personally giggle to myself when I see these things and dont get irritated buy it, but to some members they get irritated and reply like this.

We just have to educate our new protege bretheren by simply being tactful and nicley awnsering there inquiry and then throw in a quick hint statiing that the above listed info can be found by conducting a search U FUGGIN ASSHOLE!!! LOL just kidding

just keep in mind that you are going to have to have patience with new people -- esp as the board grows bigger and bigger. a search for "CAI" turns up over 100 threads. if someone has a simple question regarding a CAI, should they be expected to read through 100 threads b/c the answer MAY be in there somewhere -- esp when many have titles like "help me out here" and "check this out!" and "guess what" and "CAI"?

the "search" function only has a limited use, especially when some terms are used all the time, even in thread that have nothing to do with them...in the time it takes to type

"listen up n00b! use that thingy in the top right of your screen, it's called the search button, use it!" and then post a screen shot of the search button or some nonsense, the question could have been answered and all parties gone away happy.

i've sen it happen on i-club as their membership has absolutely exploded since the WRX came out. it's almost useless to search for anything there anymore unless you are looking for something very specific since there are so many threads. it will happen here too (hopefully!).
