What's the worst automotive advice you've been given?

are you going above the recommended tire pressure, or the maximum rated pressure that's posted on the sidewall? The reason being that if your exceeding the max PSI, then you could have a blow-out. If you're referring to the recommended, then disregard. I've heard different schools on both higher & lower...I know that if it's too high or low, you'll get uneven wear. I keep mine at 32 - 35 psi.

o, ok, i see
I think i am around 40, it does sound a little over inflated.
but not to care, it is about time to change it anyway, but the last thing i want is a blow out in the middle of the highway.

thanks for the input

Right, but with four wheels turning, it can be harder to initially lose traction depending on the case.

I see what you are saying.

However given the conditions, and that I was mid-turn when I hit the ice, it would have been a mess no matter what.

In mid-turn the front tires hit the ice and went straight. I let up off the gas and that put the front end more towards the curb (ooposite of what should have happened). The Blazer (which would have been the 4x4 option) would have given out faster because of the crappier tires, worn suspension and crappy weight distribution in that thing.

"When you start your car, floor it. It will warm up quicker."
well it is true, but bad advice nonetheless (second)

I assumed they meant just after you start it up, give it gas to make it warm up faster
