Whats the best intake for our MS6? is Injen or AEM?

I'm a big fan of the Cobb SRI. For how much rain we've been getting in St. Louis the past 4 days I'm glad to have the intake element tucked into the engine bay, as opposed to a CAI that has it down in the wheel well.

I think gains are about the same regardless of SRI/CAI.

I would like to know your inputs before I spend the money.(drive2)

god your asking for a mess of crap aren't you...i love my aem...i wrote up this review somewhere else showing the different makes of cai/sri...i will post it here to help the newer people...goodluck with your purchase

CAI & SRI
Well since I am bored I have decided to do another review on Cold Air Intakes and Short Ram Intakes. In every car I have ever owned I had went with a cai over a sri so on my mazdaspeed 6 I own the AEM CAI and I love it. First I have to say that this was the very first mod I did to my car and let me say I really felt a huge difference in performance and sound. The stock air box is such a big piece of junk that restricts a lot of airflow and power and a lot of people either choose a cai or sri to help free up a lot of horsepower. Now I am not siding with either Cai or Sri because in my opinion there is no real proven fact that says one is better than the other when it comes to the performance of this car. The only thing that I can say that is obvious is that the sri will suck in a lot more hot air than a cai. with that said I chose a cai for the obvious reason that a turbo creates a lot of hot air and needs more cold air to help it perform better but how much better is unknown to me. Along with performance is the sound of the cai/sri which for me was a huge improvement. By getting a cai/sri it instantly allows you to hear your stock by pass valve (bpv) during shifts along with the wonderful sound of the car sucking in all that air. So lets begin on the different products made for the speed 6 to better help the community on deciding on which cai/sri is right for them

CAI- This is a list of known cai products available on the market.
Injen Cold Air Intake System

Now some people in the past have talked about how the cai can suck in water during a heavy rain storm which in return can damage your car. Well along with my cai I also have the Injen Water Repellant Pre-Filter. This product deff keeps water out of my intake during rain storms for worry free driving... but remember this product isn't waterproof so driving through deep puddles isn't recommended. As far as I know there are only 2 pre filters. One is made by injen and the other is made by CPE. I would highly recommend either product to anyone with a cai for a little piece of mind and its a very cheap add.

In conclusion I am very happy with the purchase of my cai and would recommend either a cai or a sri to anyone with a mazdaspeed 6.

ok...by data whish of the AEM an Injen is the best?

I herd that are almost the same gain. Is that true?

looks like there the same piping... it really comes down to the filter...looks like the injen one is an oil based basic filter vs aem which is a dry flow fliter....there both the same price...all i can say is cleaning the aem intake is simple....every 4-5 months i take it off....fill a bucket with mild soap and water to clean it....let it dry...and its all good ....have had mine for over a year and a half...aem says gains of 29 whp (which has been discussed on this site before so dont beat up on the subject please)...injen doesn't have power gains for the speed 6..only speed 3... i have always used aem since the old honda/acura days lol. also let me add that supposedly aem and the mazdaspeed cai are one in the same....just remember that which ever you buy make sure to complement it with the injen or cp-e Water Repellant Pre-Filter. on a rainy day the filter tends to get wet from all the water your front wheel kicks up at it!.

get an sri as if you ever want to go fmic, sri IS the better choice to allow for piping. :)

the most proven gains from me researching online. i haven't seen any proven gains from a sri. they way i think of it sri sucks in a lot of hot air from the engine bay vs a cai...so i chose to go with aem cause they have always been the best intake company in my opinion!

zinger002 is right when saying if you ever want to go with a front mount intercooler than getting a sri would be your best bet...but i ended up doing an upgraded tmic so i can say i am very happy with the aem intake.

Get the MS6 Intake cause I have one and it still puts the car under warranty if installed properly. The AEM is second since I had one for my old 04 M6i--it worked like a champ with gains proven.
