Mmmm sounds tasty. Tonight I'm going with the parents to my grandma's house with the rest of the family to celebrate July and August b-days. I dunno what's for dinner, but my grandma can cook... so it's all good.

Miss Publix only because I used to be able to get all the ingredients I needed to make Cuban and Puerto Rican food. Now I have a Harris Teeter (expensive) and they have an 'ethnics' isle.... with hardly ANY ingredients I need... and I had a Stop and Shop in Mass.

I miss Publix by far. But I like to cook every other day or so. Hard to do on my schedule so I mainly finish around 10:30pm. lol But I made some Pastelitos last night which came out great. Here's the skinny on it:

Filo Dough (freezer section), cut dough into small triangles, lightly flour
Cream Cheese (Philly is fine. Place small squares of cheese in between the dough)
And fruit or spread you want (only if you like fruits because it can get tangy)
Bake at 350 degrees on cookie sheet (no coating nes.)

1 cup confectioners sugar
1 cup Heavy Cream (mix together over the stove until you get a desired consistancy, which is just lightly dripping off the spoon and watery.. do not place on high setting)

After dough is lightly brown and flaky (20 min approx), take out of oven. Lightly coat a plate with confectioners powdered sugar and place pastries on the plate. Remove the cream/sugar mixture from stove and brush over the pastries. The sugar mixture will cure giving a sticky feel, yet hard to the touch over the pastry and VOULA! Serve.

The cream cheese can be really hot inside, but I can never wait til something cools to eat it unless it's pudding or jello. lol

*sigh* dinner rocked tonight.

chicken curry with bell peppers and onions over white rice with a hash brown. it was THE s***

went to sleep at 7pm yesterday.... woke up around 6am this morning to come into work....missing dinner ENTIRELY which is fine since sometimes I dont eat dinner. But oh well. Today is my "Friday" here anyways and I dont have to be back til this Friday (for real) so... going to start my painting project tomorrow. Maybe get a little sun somewhere in-between.

I like cooking projects too, I just bought a cookbook that has receipes from around the world at the book store. I love cookbooks especially if it's meals from everywhere and not just "Martha's Kitchen". lol Tells you the difficulty, how many carbs - proteins, etc., prep time, cook time... It's great. I try to make something new at least once a week. Off topic just a bit but... does anyone have a wife or gf that doesn't cook? Like that chick from 'Joe Millionare' that didn't know what an onion was? lol

Just finished my dinner tonight....I had penne with a sauce I made, and it was good, but my mouth is still on fire. I took olive oil, put it in a pan with garlic, onion, and these peppers my roommate had...now he told me the peppers weren't that hot, and of course i am the idiot that believed him...but I simmered up all of that, and then poured it over the pasta, and shook it up with some parmesan cheese sprinkled heavily(I love that stuff)...served it up...and it was gooooooodddddd....it was just really spicy b/c of the peppers I used...

My brother's ex gf/roommate never cooked... whenever I went to visit I cooked, my brother cooked, or we went out to eat. She did brown some ground beef once... well she started and left it there so I had to finish it.

BTW I had chicken quesadilla tonight (local restaurant)
