What's a good price for my MSP?

I have thinking about selling for awhile and have my vehicle on Carsoup. I would like an opinion on what a good price would be for my 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege. Vehicle is stock with 32,000 miles. Also have an extra set of Pirelli tires and an extra set of rims for the winter.

book value is suprisingly only $10,600. That is VERY low for that milage so I wouldn't take less than $11k. The book value on these cars is a little f'd up. A clean low milage stock MSP with warranty should be a wanted car. I'd see what a dealer would offer you. Walser says it will buy your car even if you don't buy one from them. I'd check Walser Mazda in Burnsville and see what they say.

edit: I'd add a couple hundred more for the snow wheels/tires too.

I work for Walser in their corporate office. They will buy it from me, about $11500-$12000 I talked to the used car manager. I think private party I could get a bit more.

Standard warranty is like 4 years/50,000 for the MSP's if im not mistaken. At least thats what my dealer informed me after i purchased mine used. So it may be outta warranty already, regardless of what mileage u have.

Id say no more than $12k, but im sure u could push out a bit more to the right person.

It all depends on when it was sold new.. Its 4 yrs/50k from that date.. If my car was still within the mileage limits, it would still be covered until Feb of 08..

blue book offers a dealer price that's jacked up all to hell, it says dealer retail value for an MSP with 32k miles is $16,115!!!LOLOLOLOLOL

Dealers don't use blue book, banks don't use blue book, I don't use blue book.

If you check NADA's price you get a dealer retail of $12,500 which is what I would expect to be able to actually haggle a dealer down to and purchase the car, much more realistic. It also give the trade in value at NADA which is a little lower than you should be able to sell it to a private individual.

I know what a blue book value is. I was just wondering where everyone was getting their numbers from ...

Dealers go by Black Book value. 2 months ago for an 03 MSP with an average of 12k miles/year...a dealer would offer no more than 9500 as a trade in.
Private party you'll definately get more.

Of course. Mine expired January of 07, so your car must have been sitting around for quite some time ;)
