What to buy with 800

Unless you're going to be on a track I still don't think the brakes need upgrading. 60-0 in 116 feet. That's Corvette territory.

I did a full panic stop test once and the brakes scared the crap out of me, I've never felt a car stop so fast.

even then you dont need much in the way of upgrades. new pads and fluid will work great. even in showroom condition there is very little fade from these brakes. they are quite impressive.

i think you mean shorten (uhm)

if so, so will sticky race rubber

No, I meant lengthen. The point of enlarging the rotors and upping the piston count is to dissipate heat and better control the pad contact during repeated braking conditions. The aggressive pads typically used with big brake kits are meant to be used on a racetrack, they will never get up to operating temperatures on the street where they will underperform. At best they'll tie the factory brakes in distance, at worst they'll lengthen it.

Please, I'm sure you'll figure something out. looking at your current mods, start looking at suspension. Maybe a turbo inlet pipe too...

I'm going to go with suspension as well. Our cars are fairly quick, and I alwasy found a quick car that handles well is a lot more fun to drive than a balls out fast car that can't even turn.

What's with all this suspension talk? Seriously people.... the suspension is fine. If anything, upgrade the swaybars. That'll give you the best bang for the buck.

i think the suspension on this car needs more work than the brakes.

ALRIGHT I FIGURED IT OUT.
I am going to go with Cobb RSB, prosport boost guage, and vent pod. all getting delivered soon. I am going to put the rest in the Bank. And maybe a FSB later. '

Thanks for all of the help.
If you have a cobb RSB only, or the pair let me know how it is / feels. I am going to start on the stiffest setting.

I'd HIGHLY recommend getting a red Defi Racer gauge for your ventpod. Check out the thread for some pics... I have it and it looks 99% stock (would be 100% if it said mazdaspeed on it instead of defi.) Without question the best gauge you can get for the MS3

Depends on how you will use the car. For the road racing track, the suspension is without any doubt this car's weak point. Then tires, then brakes, with engine last. ....Depending on the track I might transpose tires & brakes.

For street skirmishes (I resist that), you might want more power instead. But since you really can't use any more power in the first 3 gears without better traction, you would have to get stickier tires too.

right... but simply 'upgrading' the suspsension won't guarantee a better handling car. From what I've read, upgrading the swaybars is by far the best way to reduce body roll. But what do I know? I'm satisfied with the handling of this car... It's not quite up to part with my old MSP but it's capable enough for my needs. sometimes I feel people mod their car just for the pure sake of it. But you're right... if you're actually racing the car on some level, mods make a ton of sense. It's sort of like the meatheads you see at the gym working on their beachbodies soley to impress the ladies... vs guys who actually workout with a purpose (to be better at a certain sport for example) but I digress...

Good point, and a good one for discussion. I left a Porsche Club track event at VIR with the firm thought that any first mod for my MS3 would be increased damping of suspension motion. Feeling the tail galumph around on the front straight kink at 120MPH is a bit anxiety provoking! It was not terrible, but I would not want to come through there much faster, especially if I were passing or being passed.
I've been out of the forum loop for a while, so there's plenty I need to catch up on. My guess is that swaybars really would be your best upgrade if you plan to autocross?

The suspension on the speed 3 / 6 isnt great but its not bad. Unless you track the car its really not worth it performance wise imo. Most people just get springs for the looks (dont lie people). Honestly if you bought this car for the track then you bought the wrong car. FWD or big heavy sedans aren't designed for cornering :(.

That being said springs / sway bars are still great mods but for a first mod on this car . . . come on.

**** that GET EXTENDED warranty :D

I bought the speed3 to stand out and because of the limited production. If i wanted to keep my "TUNNER" stock i would have bought a regular 3,

True that are some modes that i would have not bought, but there is no way that i would want my speed to be stock
