what tire size should i get?

just got my msp rim 18in. and just wondering what tire size I should get so i have no rubbing. putting them on an 05 mz3i.

whats the width of the wheel 18 x ??.
7 inch wide wheels = 215/45 or 225/40
8 inch wide wheel = 225/40 or 235/40

pretty sure the ms3 wheels are 18 x 7

i didnt know they were MS3 wheels....sorry. I thought you said msp wheel in your first post. I ran a 225/40 setup on my stock ms3 wheels. there a lil cheaper than the 215/45 as well. good luck

Idk if my post was confusing but I am putting the rims on my mazda 3 and dont know if its diff from putting them on a speed, just wanna make sure i get no rubbing or anything.

A friend of mine has 225/45 R 17 winter tires he's willing to part with cheap because he got a new car and they don't fit the new car.

Also, will these tires work on the stock 17 inch rim?

hmmm just got some 2004 mazda3(hatch) rims last night
question is what tire sizes will fit
i know stock is 205/50/17
but im wondering if i can go with either of the below selections
205/40/17 - im pretty sure this will fit
215/35/17 - what i want but not sure it will fit (i like the shorter sidewall)

btw this will be going on a protege5 if that makes a difference

well the important thing is not the original tire size for the Mazda 3, it's the original size on the protege5. You don't want to change the overall diameter of the tire. So your sidewall will have to be the same height no matter what the width of the tire is. Use this calculator to figure it out.

If you want a shorter sidewall you'll have to get a larger rim to make up for it.
