What tint % do you like?

Be careful if you decide to push the laws

Legal here in Ohio is 50% for the side windows, anything on the rest. I went 35% all around with my last car thinking they wouldn't mess with me (about the sides) because it was close enough. Wrong, really sucks to pay for tint then have to peel it off (loser)

Better to play it safe. I went with 35% all around and (knock on wood) haven't been busted once in 5 years. Even though I regret not going darker for a while afterwards, I'm glad I played it conservative. Not only is the chance of getting a ticket (or worse.. being told you need to have them taken off) less... but I think it actually looks better. Having ultra dark tints on a car... I don't know... unless it's a limo or an exotic... it just looks cheesy imo but hey... to each their own

I've been wondering the same thing for a while now. MI your only allowed to have a 4" strip on the drivers and passenger windows and the area I'm in is really anal about tints. I was thinking maybe 50% on the fronts and 20% around the back so hopefully cops wouldnt bother me, I do see a lot darker around all the time.

Assuming it's accurate, here is a link to all of the state tint limits.

Thanks hilmar2K,,,, Good to know the legal limits for each state. I think the cops would be really busy in Vegas making everybody peel off their tints or the rest of Nevada for that matter, but would they care from a state that has legalized prositution and gambling, eh(shrug)

I heard Tx is a pretty strict state too, and you haven't had any problems? I may get a retint in the back to 20 and keeps the 35 in the front like I have now.

texas laws are just 35% max on front windows, and 5% max on back windows. i did have my old car double tinted in the back though. it was a layer of 35% with a layer of 5% over it. it was so dark that i couldn't see in without a flashlight sometimes.

35%, it sounds light but trust me I think it is just right, cops wont pay too much attention to it and it really is pretty dark, but not too dark to see out of at night.

+1.....yes, it doesn't look as good as darker tint, but it's a great balance between looks, functionality, and odds of getting hassled by cops

I went with 50 in the front and 35 in the rear. It's very subtle and you can still see into the car pretty easily. Personally, I think dark tint all around looks kind of ghetto.

just got my windows tinted today. 20% all around w/ metalisized (sp?) film. So when u look at it from an angle it looks almost like 5% but from straight on it's a good 20%. Totaly changes the cars looks.

now for the 4 days of no windows and beautiful florida spring weather :(

How well did that tint work at keeping the interior cool when the cars' parked?

Just got mine done with 30% HP Metal and it looks great. Looking at it straight on you can see through it, but at angles it is hard to see anything inside.

5% on all windows except front which are 20%. looks clean and has that factory look with front window being a little lighter than dark

That tint looks sweet, as do the rims. I wonder if that falls under the "reflective" tints that would be illegal here in MI...

Hmm, good question. Its not that reflective like the old 80's mirror tints. Not only that, but its only reflective at all at about a 90 degree angle, from the sides, its just like regular tint.

I just put 20% on the back the two quarters and the rear sides. The 20% is clean in the day and dark at night.

I think you just described ALMOST what I was thinking about. I really want 20%, but I drive on a lot of backroads with deer and no streetlights. A buddy of mine has 20 on his jeep, I drove it, and it's near impossible to see out of the side windows in that area at night.

Anyway!! I love the look of 20, but will probably get 35 except was thinking about 20 on the triangles and rear windshield. Do you have any pictures????
