im going to the track on sat. i was wondering what everyone who has gone to the track has launched at?>(rpms)

since i have upgraded motor mounts, nice tires, and some goodies under my hood, i usually launch at 4500rpm's. no wheel hop, both tires gripping and im out that hole.

i would upgrade mounts, and get good tires. after that, its up to u when u feel is best. your shift points rely on your effort of getting out of that hole. after that, get the feel for your shift points because redline is not always the best time to shift.

i havent had a chance to pick up new motor mounts... i just rotated my rear to my front with factory tires. i was thinking about 3k maybe even 3500. and yeah your right im not shifting anywhere near redline... it dies off at around 5500. i think tomorrow will be spent do some practice launches.

alright

after u start upgrading, u will notice that u can do things that u couldn't do before. like upgrading your exhaust will give u a better spool, intake will help u breathe better, mounts will give u overall better traction (not to mention ur lsd will live longer because it isn't abused as much)

just some things that will make a difference, after all this, everything can change, the way u launch your car to racing from a roll. Me? on a roll i'm in 2nd gear @ 40mph and my rpm is around 4500rpms. thats my muscle gear and boy i love it! u'll see what yours is, depending on what rpm your in will determine the power output. the exhaust upgrade should help u spool faster which will give u little to no turbo lag.

you said you launch at around 4500???!!! the speed6 AWD launches at that. I launch at 2800-3000 with the stock potenza's on the street. what kind of tires do you have on that thing? did you slam a fatter tire on the rim? whats the make yada yada for you to launch at 4500?

I don't think he is driving a speed6? All I know is, if I launch with the mods I have at that rpm I will have nothing but wheel hop.

My experience in the car:

slip launch @ 2800 - 3k... shift ~ 5.8k (w/ CAI)...

oh - and run with TCS off...

thats what everyone ive known does with the 3. if i launched at 4500 i would leave some mean strips on the pav. unless i burned the hell outta my clutch.

guy on here ran 13.6 ( he has slips to prove it ) and he launched at 3.5k rpms with heavy slip

- only mod is CAI

yea, its hard to judge, because his 60' was good (2.05 or something like that), but on the contrary, his trap speed was higher than most, which would indicate wheelspin..

i tried a couple launches today to get a feel for what im gunna do at the track. 4500 is way too high i did one from 4k and all i had was spin and hop. 3000-3200 seems to be the money spot... but that was on pavement, track could be better traction? we'll see. i gotta hit the sack, track in the am... i will let you guys know what happens

def let us know. well be waiting for some numbers.

launch at 1900rpm. or 2k. u dont need to slipp that much. will have no spin, dont let the engine lag. once u find the sweet spot between traction and spin, gun it. This is street launch anyway, maybe it's different at the track cause it's stickier. go for higher rev, not too mcuh though or else u'll break something. like transaxle.

As has been said, I would think a launch around 3k would be wise. The turbo really hits at that spot in first gear.

I would like to see the differences in times with tcs on, tcs off, and the boost limiter and tcs off...

I think that may be an experiment for when I go to the track...
