What rims to get?

Took my car in for an alignment today and the people who last did it were way off and I ate up all my tires and its time for new ones. Ive decided to change to new rims as well.

Right now im running 235/35/19 tires
Rims are 7.5x19 with 42mm offset.

My tires as of now just barely rub the fenders. Rear fender are rolled and scrape with brand new tires then wear off. The front sometimes rub when I ride a large dip in the road.

What offset will I need on 8 inch wide rim to stay where im at?

One rim im looking at has 48mm offset and the other is a 45mm.

I will most likely run 235/40/18's with these and would possibly like to run 245/40s.

Any suggestions??

If your wanting to run 245's your gonna need to roll your rear fenders better to run the +42 offset without rubbing, and you'll be the same where your at now as far as the rear fenders if you go with a +48 offset. you will also be .3" closer to your suspension components but there is still plenty of room with a +48.

Don't mean to thread jack qwik but you seem pretty knowledgable about the wheel / tire situation .

What exactly is alignment and how often should I do it?

Buying new rims also means you need to buy new tires right? I dont mind paying 600 bucks for some rims but then another 1K for tires is too much.

If I ever get rims I would get 18 inch TSW Nogaro's. I like simple and clean (and easy to clean for that matter) rims.

45mm choice

I should be able to run 235/40 with the 48mm
I think I may need to run a 225/45 with the 45mm

Would it be possible to run 245/40 with the 48?

i would go for the 45 choice, the black rims! I think those would look amazing on a wwp.

Ive decided on the Tenzo R Type M

Now I cant decide between a 235/40- Nitto Neo Gens
Or to be safer from rubbing a 225/45- Not sure of which tire

Looks good Qwik, I like the black. So you went with the Nittos in 235? Does that mean you don't have to roll? I wonder if 245 is just overkill on our cars anyway...

Thanx. Cant wait til they come in. Should look better than the photoshop. They should fit perfectly. I figured out they will stick out about an 1/8 inch more than I have now. 245 would be nice but I dont want to take the chance.

Yea the white with red is pretty nice but would be hell to keep clean

Unless you are changing wheel size, there's no need to buy new tires, assuming your current tires still are servicable. Even if you do need new tires, there are plenty of options for less than $1000. I'm looking at General Exclaim UHP summer tires to put on my new RX8 wheels. $90 per tire in 235/40R18 at tirerack. 4th rated summer tire on the site (user ratings). Add in shipping and mounting and I'm still way under $1000.

Got my rims today

-I must say it rides MUCH better than with the 19's. Its a night and day difference. These rims fitted perfrectly no rubbing at all. Almost more clearance than the 19s I had on. As you can see in the last photo how much more room there is. So 9" wide is definitely possible. The rear there is almost 2 inches of clearance on the inside.
