What # K&N filter for Ebay SRI?

Alright. I'm still having a lot of trouble finding the correct part number for a K&N filter to replace the crappy one that came with the intake. I've been to several autozones, pep boys (all the same, really), and they just scratch their heads/butts. The K&N website is impossible to read, at least for a brainless wonder such as myself.

I know that someone out there has installed a K&N on their "BOMZ" intake. Please, help a brother out.

Also, anyone know of a HOW-TO for this thing. People have told me "Just follow the how-to for the AEM SRI," but I can't find that thing anywhere.

EDIT: Think it might be F030A6. Can anyone back me up?

I have the p/n for the 2.75" ID filter if you want...but I think your air filter is a 3". Not sure.

SRI=Short Ram Intake

Yeah, the filter in question will have to fit onto a 3" duct/tube. Here are the measurements I took of the POS filter that came with the kit:
Opening: 3"
Base: 6"
Top: 4 3/4"
Filter length: 5 1/4"
Overall Length: 6 1/4"

So, anyone else have a clue, or know how I could find out?

Personally, I think that K&N filters, while good stuff, are overpriced. I'm also not a big fan of "chrome" or what not, so the standard K&N cap on the end isn't high on my aesthetic priority list.....

I had one on my $tillen intake on my Nissan and it worked great. I ordered a 3" inlet and a 7" stack height for the AEM SRI (I plan to reroute some things, so it may seem overkill).

Well, a K&N equivalent would be something like:

RC-3870 - 3" inlet, 5" length, chrome cap
or
RF-1030 - 3" inlet, 6.5" length, chrome cap
or
RX-4730 - 3" inlet, 6.5" length, chrome cap.

I think the primary differences are the filter top diameter, base diameter, and flange length. Pick your poison and fly with it.

Personally, I think reading quantum physics is easier than K&N's product listing (granted, the filters are used on more than just automotive applications).

There is no "set" or standard size with K&N. That's why they make so many variations.

Figure out what dimensions you need: inlet, "stack height" (length), flange diameter, cap diameter (these last two basically dictate how steep the "slope" of the cone is).

(F) Mounting Flange Inside Diameter This is the most critical dimension and should be very close to the diameter of the application's inlet flange. The flange will stretch up to 1/16" for those in-between sizes.
(D) Filter Diameter This is the outside diameter of the filter. Always use the largest size filter that is practical for the application. Both the base (near flange) diameter and top diameter is provided. The filter is reverse tapered if the top dimension is larger than the base dimension.
(L) Filter Length This dimension is the length of the filter body only, it does not include the flange length. Always use the longest filter practical for maximum filtration.
(FA / FL) Flange Angle and/or Length If no angle is listed in the specifications table, the flange is straight. Any angle listed is in degrees and can be utilized when space is a problem.
(FO) Flange Offset In some cases the center of the flange opening is offset from the center of the filter base in order to provide a better fit.
Custom End Cap - XStream Air Flow Top filters begin with "RX". For more details on XStream products go to the XStream page. To determine other types of caps (Composite, Inverted, or Titanium) look up part # on the custom end cap universal filter page.
PreCharger - A K&N PreCharger is a specially designed filter wrap that will extend the service interval of a K&N filter used in extremely dusty conditions. Some PreChargers are available in blue, red, and yellow. Part #'s that begin with "25-" are foam filter wraps.

Good luck finding a filter. I just got my S&B filter (just got home from work 'bout an hour ago ) and it made my day! Now I have to wait for some other stuff to show up
