What is up with this stinky MPG??

Hmmm... interesting thread...

it sounds like pretty much nobody is getting what is advetised?

How about you more-mileage people... my car is also still under 5000 miles. As I said - on my Nissan, my mileage improved after 10,000 miles. Now I get 28+ MPG with a 2.5 liter engine.

i probably had around 7K when i made the trip up I-85 to high point...my mods are injen cold air, fs-ze cams, ur crank pulley, 1.8L updated ignition coil & wires, and pivot racing grounding kit (partial...ran out of wire)...when the car was stock, my gas mileage sucked ass...that's how i justify my mods to my wife.

lol i remmber last year wen we were at war with Iraq. I drove my dads Z3 take 93 octane and it cost 2 dollars and some chage. i swear i started to cry, gas went down like nothing (inline 6 5spd) so yea lol. the money counter i swore was ganna blow up for going to fast lol.

I generally don't care about the price of gas, unless it breaches 2.50 a gallon. =P I don't know why, but it doesn't bother me. At any rate, the FS-DE's exhaust manifold seems to be the real notch when bringing the car to redline, as with the manifold, the car's power drops off around 5.5k, and it really does feel aenemic. Once I dropped on my header, however, the car pulls really hard to redline, now, though I honestly don't bring it there often at all.

I, too, have a couple places grounded off on my car. Not a 'kit', perse, but rather just a few wires grounding off places that had a high resistance. That may have helped the gas milage a bit, too, but I can't imagine it would make THAT much of a difference at all.

yeah the mpg sucks w/the auto - i only get 22 mpg in 90% city driving. the highest ive gotten was 29 mpg but ive never been all out highway w/no stop and go traffic (nearly impossible to do here in L.A.) and btw Canadian mpg's are different from US mpg's cuz Canadians use imperial gallons while we use US gallons here. for example 10.7L/100km is about 27mpg using Imperial gallons but only 22mpg using US gallons. check out this site: fuel consumption converter

my p5 got about 24-27 MPG and thats stock with the automanual. With my 94 accord automatic, I got only 16 MPH and it only has an intake on that and I can't figure out what's wrong with the accord. Anyone?

I have had my car up to 200 KM/H, and there was more to go, but can't, damn snow, and snow tires..

I am begining to forget wheat my car looks like with the stock wheels on..

Gas is really only an issue when the price goes up, but have fun, enjoy the ride, this car is FUN!!

ohhh, i thought that cars were limited to 188km/h!!

i got 10.9 L/100km (brand new P5)

hmm ok, now i dont feel SO bad...but heh, its the highway driving where i get s***

but i just had a realization that my mostlikey INSANELY dirty filter on my cai could have something to do with it...who knows....

i need to change that...i have a nice and clean pretty injen filter in my trunk...just havent gotten around to putting it on, lol

In the cold, I do about 475-500Km and in warmer weather, I can hit 600Km

Best tank so far was 613Km

Oops, I think I made an error in my calcs....thanks to the really cool conversion web site, this is what I come up with:

Distance driven: 500km (avg per tank, spirited city driving)
Amt of fuel used: 46L (avg per fill)
Econ: 9L/100km or 31mpg (imp) or 26mpg (US)

There we go....I'm better now.

at what point, if any, does being in high gear overwork the engine, causing it to be more strenuous and therefore use more gas? less than what, 2000rpm?
btw would that be true in the first place

Ok, I really dont' know what's wrong with my p5.

Please look at the pic, that's how much fuel I have left from 1 full tank of gas and I've only travelled 267.7 km. Why do I have such bad gas mileage?

I usualy try to keep the rpm at around 3-4.

Here is my mods/specs:

Automatic (without tiptronic)
sparkco wires + spark plugs

Could it also be that because I warm up the car 10 mins before driving it?

Thanks

Do you leave your heater on floor only, floor windshield, or windshield only all the time..

These modes use your A/C compressor, and thus use more gas..

How many Km do you have on your car too, as the car gets more usage, it does get better too..

Warming your car for 10 minutes does use up more gas too..

It even says in the manual, when the car idles normally, just drive, I usually wait till it hit's 1500 rpm and then go..

What was your millage like in the summer, were you in a lot of traffic too?

Yea, I use the heater pretty much on floor only and windshield only.

i have almost 20, 000 km on my car.

Yea, I know that i should just drive the car when it starts to idle normally, but the reason that I warm it up is because it's very cold outside and I want to warm the inside of the car up.

I dont' know my miliage during the summer, cuz it's the first time that I check my mileage.
