WHAT is THIS called and HOW do I REMOVE/deactivate this nightmare?!

Alright, so I spent a while searching as to WHAT this "remote" is called. I own a 2007 Mazda 3 hatchback (an "S", I'm guessing???) and it came from the dealer with this ridiculous remote that NEEDS to be pushed BEFORE the car can be started. This is NOT a remote that starts the car from a distance, more like a device that allows the car to BE started (I hope you're still following me).

Problem is, this damn thing is starting to look pretty rough (the remote split in half and had to tape it back together) and if it fails on me, I'm screwed - I won't be able to start my car without this THING.

Can I uninstall/deactivate this wretched waste of a device myself? Many of my friends who have Mazdas have never seen this type of remote or whatever it is before. I know it's going to leave me stranded one day when the battery dies OR if I lose it OR if it just breaks, simply put.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

This is an aftermarket system. You would have to remove it and reverse anything done when it was installed.
