what is the stock turbo's limit on the ms3?

i think you are wrong the rods are cast so are the pistons. unless ken is wrong then they are cast

sadly i am aware of the article. it comes from the same corporate mouth pieces who say the flywheels are interchangable between the turbo and non turbo 2.3. it still says to date on mazdausa's website you can use "mazdaspeed motorsports" flywheels on either 2.3 which is 110% not true.

the rods have casting patterns and casting marks on them. the pistons are definetely not forged. thats why i posted the pictures in two threads comparing stock to aftermarket. the rod is made of the same material as one i chunked out of my FS 2.0, and those are also cast.

pm me or call me any time. you have my cell phone number :)

that worrys me. I've watched two of my boys MSP's blow there motors already. Owell we'll see.

The MS3's have completly different motor from what I can gather....

These motor's should be able to handle 350whp on a GOOD tune, anything after that I would upgrade the rods and pistons for sure.

well Ken is wrong. He obviously hasn't seen all kinds of forged rods or is just basing his opinion on aftermarket rods.

Take a look at the factory forged LS1 rods, they look just like ours

also, JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE FORGED, does NOT mean they they are super strong. They are just strong for their size. I agree they are thin and could be a lot better, but that doesn't mean they are more than adequate for our motors.

wow tell me what you do to have so much knowelge about the ms3&6 motors. have you ever taken apart one of these motors?

its not rocket science here, look at some OEM forged rods and then tell me and Mazda we are both wrong.

I don't need to take apart a motor, I've seen the pics and obviously many here have never seen anything other than aftermarket forged rods and thats what you guys are basing this on.

Well according to Brian Pauter and a few other rod companies are all in agreement that they are cast rods NOT forged but what do they know huh?
We have sent these rods out to be tested and to have new ones produced.

has anybody even seen the inside of a ms3 or are all these stories about the ms6? I just find it odd that i havnt read about one ms3 having engine problems let alone throwing a rod.

yea so says mazda, but mazda also says the rods are forged. Why hasnt even one ms3 popped?

one of my theories was maybe the MS6 has a more aggressive tune on it hence why its rated for more HP even though its the same motor as the MS3. Maybe something in relation to how lean it runs stock or how it adds in timing. I know the cobalts at 9:5:1 compression don't go higher then 18 degrees of timing on the stage two map. I wonder what the MS3 is at? Srt-4s at 8:1 run 33 degrees stock!!!

The Speed6 and Speed3 share the exact same engine the part numbers are the same. The engines we build are from 3 blocks. Hell the CX-7 is even the same part number.

so why hasnt even one ms3 blown up yet. There are plenty of guys running full bolts on and raised boost, fuel cutting, boost cutting, starving for fuel and nothing, not even one. It seems that you look at a bolted ms6 the wrong way and it will pop
