What is the most aggressive I can go WITH rear fenders rolled?

I know this guy is nuts...but what other setups can I go with?

I found a local who can roll my fenders for cheap...so I'm thinking of upgrading rims but I want to know what are my limits even with rolled fenders...particularly in the FRONT

18x9 +30 is pretty damn crazy...will that mess up our wheel bearings or potentially? I could have sworn someone said S2000 don't like low offsets and will mess up wheel bearings...and S2000's require high offsets just like the MS3

Can't see because Forums blocked link. Put spaces in between each letter and post again. I know Madvillan had a pretty aggressive setup on his car.

sorry about that...yes it is madvillan's car...I can't find his thread here on 247...I would post that up so I would not have to deal withi this block links sh!t

I would say, first find out how much space Madvillan had between the inside of the rim and strut body. When I installed my BC's I measured the front and back distances with stock wheels/tires. There was about 2" in the rear and 3/4" in the front. This is with 7" wide 52 offset wheels. Once you find out what space Madvillan had you can figure out what other sizes will fit.

9" might fit with a higher offset if Madvillan had a decent gap between the strut body. Personally I did not like the look of the his Rotas. It was definitely unique but looked to akward. Now, Uhateme and Madvillans new setup using stockers and 25mm spacers looks great. The front wheels are perfect IMO with that setup, 7" width 27 offset which makes about a 44mm or 1 3/4" gap between the inside of the rim and strut body (with BC coilovers, mind you). The rears will obviously have the same offset, just a much larger gap between rim and strut. A 20mm spacer in the rear would be perfect with stock wheels which makes a 32 offset.

So using the rim width and offset numbers you should be able to figure out what other widths and offsets will fit.

BTW, there is a member here, I think Strick running 8" 35 offset that looks very nice. Depending, again on the space between his inner rim (in the front) and strut body you could probably do a 8.5" 40 offset?

ooh! here i am haha. okay, disclaimer: some people on these forums, but mainly m3f will argue with the points im about to make for days, so i am only speaking from my experiences, with the wheels that i had on my car, no matter what anyone else has measured or seen or whatever.

first and foremost, i will say to look for a staggered setup if possible. if you wanted to go 18x9's without doing the work, stick with two 18x9's 30-35 offset in the front, and two 18x9's with a maybe 40-45 offset for the rears.

the reason i say this is because i never once had to do anything with my front fenders, nothing ever rubbed once and i never had a problem with the wheels turned or any of that, however there was very little strut clearance. i would say 10mm at the most. the rear is the problem, with my setup it took a lot of work to get the fenders pushed away enough to stop the rubbing, however there was a good 20-30mm of strut clearance.

i would look for 18x8.5 wheels if i were you, if you cannot track down a staggered setup. you would still be able to wrap them in 245's, without (hopefully) dealing with all of the rear fender issues.

if you go with a wider wheel, unless the offset is waaay low, then dont worry about your ball joints. with my 18x9 setup, i increased the amount that the wheel stood out by 47mm's, and the amount that the wheel sat in towards the strut 3mm's, so there was actually less stress on the ball joints. do you get what im saying? if not, compare the two here:

trust me, if you go with an aggressive setup you wont regret it, its worth the time. the car handled amazingly with those wheels on it, it's unfortunate that i had to sell them.

sorry to blabble, hopefully that was of some help, ask if i missed something.

thanks madvillian

yes I plan to run 17x8.5 or 18x8.5....my ultimate goal is to run 245 wide....which fits great on an 8.5 wide wheel...I'm not really looking to run any wider

so 18x8.5 with 245/40/18....I should be shooting for the low 40's offset to get that nice aggressive look? and my rear fenders will be rolled aggressive

Do you want it to sit inside the fender or poke like madvillian's car?

yep, thats about where you want to be. with that setup and some coilovers, the car wont feel like a speed3 anymore, i can guarantee that!
Gotcha. I should have mentioned this before but what suspension setup are you running or plan to run?

forgot to mention that, that is the most important part of this conversation.

This car is 9" wide and 245. His offset is 45, I've heard speculation that he is running a spacer in the front to clear the strut. I can not confirm however.

Car belongs to Kevin aka dazed_and_confused from Canada.

well right now i plan to run stock...that should help alot..haha

and in the future...if i lower the car it will NOT be slammed...whether i run coilovers or springs, i'm planning to go with a mild drop

I would not recommend springs if you plan on going aggressive on the wheel and tire fitment. You will need the extra clearance on the inside front on the strut and the increased spring rate will help to keep the tire off the fender.

definitely, coilovers should be first on the list, then wheels (wiggle) they're the best things i could have gotten this car! plus, why get a nice set of wheels if you're going to be sitting at the stock monster truck height?
