What is the longest road trip you've taken in your P5?

If it hasn't been replaced check the timing belt. Would be a nightmare if that broke on you. Also I found a 4 hr trip to nc not bad at all.

Where at in va are you headed?

The timing belt was replaced less than 10k ago so I should be fine, good tip though. We are going to Charlottesville.

I went from Newport News, VA to Fall River, MA with everything i owned in my P5. Took me about 9 hours give or take, filled up befor i left and had to fill up again on the interstate. Only thing that bothered me was my lower back but that's what i get for only stopping once and not stretching. You seem to have every thing in order the antifreeze and oil are good to have too. Oh and a backup pair of headlight bulbs, I did this trip a few times and the first time i did it i was stuck in traffic at 1 in the morning and noticed i couldn't see my headlights in the reflection of the car in front of me, turns out both bulbs blew at the exact same time, i ended up driving the rest of the way with just my fogs on.

I will definately bring some extra fluids with, always good to have some. The oil was changed recently so I know it is fresh and I did the coolant when I did all my other work. I will probably stick the spare bulbs in the glove box, I swapped out for some silverstars recently.

I drove my msp from montreal to miami in about 27hours non-stop without any issues... I was deaf at the end though. I would assume a p5 would do just fine though :p

WOW, that is a long trip!

Went to Toronto a couple times (6 hour drive), the only problem I had was on the second trip, the A/C evaporator froze up a few times which left us without any airflow through the vents until the ice melted off. So you might want to make sure your A/C drain is clear (it's a little 2-3cm tube sticking out of the firewall on the lower-passenger side). Just hit it with some compressed air if you notice it's not leaking much water when you run the A/C on a humid day.

I'll have to check that out. Though since the A/C runs so much in FL I would assume it is pretty clear. Good tip!

Oh wait i did have an issue was when i got to oklahoma i had a flat on my new tire i had just bought before i left San Antonio so that really sucked so i had to spend the night in OKlahoma and in the morning i found a tire shop turned out it was the valve steam and i was on the road again.

Yeah, I am a stickler about tires, so I'll put new ones on and have the spare checked out.

I went from Orange county to Las Vegas 4hrs about 300 miles with blown struts shot motor mounts and 60mph head winds. the trip goes over what is called the Cahone pass which is a very long very steep stretch of highway. The P5 took it like a champ it cruised at about 85 the whole way and never bogged down at the really steep parts. No over heating issues and it got decent gas mileage. Obviously i was going a little fast which makes the car cruise at about 3700rpms so if you are looking to hyper mile to save gas keep it under 65. But as long as regular maintenance is good i don't see you having any problems. As for as comfortableness goes Its what makes you happy I am kinda tall so when I'm driving a long haul i will set the cruise control and slide the seat as far back as it will go so i can stretch out a little more. I also agree that XM radio is a must because I hate driving in and out of radio stations. Good luck on your trip

I happen to have a set of rear struts in the garage that I was thinking about throwing on if I have the time.

I noticed a clicking noise as the wife was pulling into the driveway yesterday. I have recently inspected the CV boots and didn't notice any tears or anything. Hopefully she doesn't have a CV joint going out. I am going to drive the car sometime this weekend to check it out. At the moment I am not sure that I want to tear into a half-shaft replacement, I'd probably take it to the local shop to have it done.

Me and my fiance just moved from houston to winston salem nc area and we moved everything in our p5 bout 18hrs

Did Stockton, CA -> Portland, OR -> Shreveport, LA -> Stockton, CA.. Totaled something over 5k miles, about a week of driving total (~6-800 miles a day give or take). Did the return trip with a bunch of stuff in the back.. Just got new tires put on and an oil change before the trip. Probably not the "ideal" time to do it, was the middle of the summer.. really hot... Did it a few years ago when the car had about 130k miles on it...

As soon as I get the power steering pump replaced/repaired (leaking around the seals) I'd do it again without hesitation..

Lacey, Washington to San diego, ca area, almost 1300 miles, headed back to lacey on Wednesday. getting about 30 mpg. not bad for a wagon with some mods.

last summer i went from kentucky to Wisconsin and back to kentucky to deliver an engine in my p5. 19 hours, 1100 miles made only 3 stops the whole time. no issues at all...my p5 had around 170k miles then. now at over 198k still no issues

Last year i put my car in a 300 mile race. Changed the oil, spark plugs, air filter and was good to go. I filled my tank up before heading out and did the whole race on a quarter tank of gas. While my opponents had to fill up every other town. Also I won the race against a BMW sports bike, a G35 coupe, 06 corvette, and three other cars that's not even worth mentioning. It's not speed that whens the race but skill.

Also when the race race was over I went to go wash my car and I threw a code. It was the coils. Replaced them and the car ran like new. Wish I would of did that before the race seeing that I could of had a little more umph in there.

Don't have a p5 but drove the msp 13hrs to central Florida and back from Memphis. That and my high rate of speed ended up turning my mani into 3 separate pieces.

Longest trip in my p5 (so far) was a weekend trip from Edmonton, AB to winnipeg, MB (1300kms 15hrs each way) had no problems.

I plan on doing another 2200kms in over 3 days in about a week (Edmonton, AB > Jasper, AB > Calgary, AB > Vernon, BC > Jasper, AB > Edmonton, AB)

My P5 currently has about 186000 kms on it and will have 187000 by the time i go on my little adventure.

Justin,
And the motor is still running!
5 mpg less than the old one, go figure.
225k on the car, less on motor, of course.

I just got back from my roadtrip. Went from Surrey BC to Anaheim CA, and as far down as san Diego. Altogether it was 3300 km's. Had 4 people and 10 days worth of clothes each. Held up strong, hills were slow due to the AC sucking the power though.

Longest mine has ever gone was from Atlanta to San Antonio, and that was at about 185k. She's gone on quite a few semi-long trips since then, like to Miami or Nashville.

sorry about the MPGs.. i guess whoever owned it before didnt maintain it as well.. glad it's still running though! i figured at just a little over 100k itd still have a long life left in it

I towed mine from NC to CA...but in all seriousness, I've driven mine no more than 2 hours away, but hopefully that will change if I ever go to meets...

Has nothing to do with the A/C lol I dont have it in my car and during my winter snowboard trips I can't use cruise because I need to downshift too often lol, thats with 4 people plus snowboards on the roof

Hmmm well I noticed while having cruise control on and the A/C on the was some type of pulse effect. The car would slow down then speed up afterwards. Only happened when the A/C was on at any level. I tried turning my defroster on to see if it was a power issue but no such issues. O well, I never use it in Canada anyways :P

Well the A/C compressor runs directly off your engine, so its possible that there is an issue causing it to generate more resistance than it should which is sucking power when it kicks in?

Beach trip every other weekend or third depending on work and schedules.... Gets 29MPG on the automatic tranny and it's a 3.5 hour trip each way... Goes by pretty quick and commfy.
