What is the EGT Gauge do for me?

hey but where does the sensor for the egt go? cuz if it goes onto the exhaust and i disconnect mine it will become pretty useless.
The thermocouple should go about 2" from the head in the exhaust manifold, on an outer radius, on either cylinder 2 or 3.

alright so im gonna order up some gauges and im planning on ordering a boost gauge and one other. judging by what people have told me and by what others have said on the board i was thinkin of going with the exhaust gas temperature gauge. but what would that really tell me? Would it basically warn me if the engine is running too hot before the water temp gauge starts to rise? also.....where would this sensor be located? Because i was wanting to get my msp dumped so the exhaust becomes pretty useless. any help would be great!

when it comes to turbos the three most important guages in a lot of peoples minds is the boost, W/B AFR and the EGT!!!!

the EGT lets you know s*** about to hit the fan !!!!

I can try and post an article from a top turbo specliast in the air industry who also does a lot in the auto turbo scene and he was talkming about in his opinion that you really should use those three guages to properly read what your car is doing
