i recently picked up my msp that came with a FMIC and SRI as well as a few other things. i am curious to how the best or proper way to hook everthing up? i see alot of different types of set up and wonder if mine is the most beneficial for my car.

the out let of my intercooler pipe comes up through the fender to a BOV then to my MAF the into my intake mani. the filter for the short ram is just on a 6 inch pipe coming off the turbo.

does that sound right?

sounds right by the way you explained it...the only real thing that is "right" or "wrong" is the BOV location. It has to be before the MAF or you'll get random stalling...the BOV venting metered air causes the car to run overly rich and it stalls

The actual pipe routing can be done any way you want

The routing you have at the moment is proper. The blow-off valve pre-maf will allow you to vent to atmosphere with your valve without giving you stalling issues. One thing I never see anyone do with these cars is install a nipple on the cold pipe for your wastegate and boost controller source. This will increase spool and response of your controller like this. Also never "T" anything off of your BOV/Diverter valve or wastegate/boost controller line as it will cause those parts to work improperly. A short ram intake is good if you have a nice core which you do. I would build a cold air box for the filter though or extend the filter into the fender. When you are all said and done don't forget to boost leak test the car. Would be a shame to see you miss out on your potential with leaks.

^you want the nipple on the hot pipe, not the cold pipe
actually, the nipple should be on the turbo itself but for people who dont want to drill and tap their turbo, the hot pipe is the next best thing

it just messes with me a bit. my last turbo cars i have owned i had a cold air intake and i would have the MAF hooked up to the intake. is this just the difference with the short ram to the cold air?

i cant extend it to the fender because that is where my exit pipe from my front mount comes through.

im gunna go take some pics right now and try and gifure out how to post them.

also with the box around the short ram.... will it reduce heat soak or hesitation or what ever i get the power loss from when sucking in all that hot air when my engine bay gets heated up?
