list your suggestions.

personally, i'd like to see some sort of kit that allows us to run different turbochargers, mainly the mitsubishi turbos. i hate the fact that there are only 2 real aftermarket bolt on turbo upgrades out for our cars.

if i could run an 16g evo3, big 16g or 18g i'd be a happy, happy man.

ha, before all that, how about a real engine management! you gotta have the ability to fine tune that piece y0

Just run a methanol injection fogger nozzle and it will take care of detonation.

If you want people to build nice stuff like that you have to come forward and buy it when someone puts the effort in and that ain't happening is it? Yeah yeah we'll buy it and then when its ready you all disappear!

ha- when apexi came out with the powerfc for the hondas, thats all i ever ran for years. it was SO flexible and had the awesome commander for monitoring, and the fc pro software offered alot of flexibility for a street stand alone. i ran it up until i sold my car last month. the problem is...noone else bought it because they figured out all the obd1 tuning wizardy.

trust me...i know i have to pay to play. if someone came out with something like the AEM EMS but with solid hardware (not some second rate stuff with awesome software), i'd buy it IN A HEART BEAT.

Yea but youre comparing many years and evolutions of the Honda market. It just didnt start out like that.. Samething in the Mustang World.

i'm not sure i understand your point here- someone has to put the effort in to make a product that is worthy to be purchased. what i was saying in response to what you've said is that if someone does come out with it, i'll be there to buy. the PowerFC came stateside near the year 2000 and i got it. it was very expensive but at the time it was cutting edge, a nice break from wiring in DFI or a haltech....there was no precedent for that, it was the first of its kind and i got on board right off the bat.

so, that said, maybe i'm still confused about what you mean.

are you saying that people flake even when it's available? i don't think that would happen in this market at all. i mean, you have people buying the limited flexibility standback and wiring it in, just like we used to do with DFI on the hondas (but the SB isn't nearly as much of a hassle i'm sure lol). those people are the ones who would step up and purchase, people like me who feel uncomfortable with anything OTHER than a real full tuning standalone or full function piggy back.

on a side note, i've been talking with turboxs and they are working hard on this. they have a good handle on piggy backs for these newer gen cars, so i guess once they figure it out we will have something more viable than what is currently available.

no, we don't. those of us who are serious about tuning don't flake. it's the people that are more interested in sounding cool than putting down power that flake. you know the type i'm talking about, those that bought up old 240SXs saying "my SR20det will be here in 3 months" for years on end.

Problem with the internet is that you can't really tell the flakes from the men until it's too late. I agree with both sides here, but everybody's idea of perfect or great is different. I've always tried to judge on bang-for-buck, but when push comes to shove, I lean towards quality and not price.
I'm sure somebody will do it right, but it's a risk. The platform is great, but how long will it last and how many are there. I like the car alot, hope they keep making it.

i agree. i'm just saying that i want more options on new turbochargers, because i'm convinced we can get better bang-for-the-buck out of an exhaust manifold and a 18g than a bolt on GT3076

its done after this year.

yeah but that doesn't signal the end of the potential for a standalone or a viable P&P for mazda direct injection engines. let's take for example the k20 in the honda world. that has been around for 6 years now, but not one of those cars that has had an engine in that series has lasted the length of the time the engine has been around. you had the rsx which died, the ep3 civic si which lasted 3 years, then the new si...all used the same basic engine with similar ECU's. so, what i'm saying is...while mazda might stop w/ the 2.3 in this particular generation of chassis/body, the 2.5 might be very similar and with a matter of adaptation whatever ran the last gen might be able to run the new one. the honda powerfc can run practically any honda vtec engine from 1992 to 2001, the only changes being an adapter harness.

also, i'd have to imagine the proportion of people who would be willing to get a standalone for an ms3 or ms6 would be high per units sold/available, whereas there are many more latest gen honda civic si's out there on the road, but very few of those people actually would get involved with a stand alone or real in-depth ecu tuning because it's too hard to make viable power with those engines compared to ours that ALREADY have a turbo.

Yes, the k20 is a great example of using something in many forms.
The civic is a little harder sell with the ecu issues, but everybody and their brother has Hondata on their rsx.

Sucks that they are killing this car so soon, every time something good comes out....

revhard, OT, but do you use vibrant bits? i was looking at that page there and the flex pipes and stuff look like theirs. nice work you do!

BTW i love the direction vibrant has taken. great crew over there. but anyway...sorry for the OT.

I have used some in the past, they have made a move in the right direction for sure. I do believe those particular flex sections were vibrant from a local supplier.

End-- OT.(wink)

well i'm thinking that it's the beginning of something really really good for mazda. look at how many platforms are using the 2.3 DISI turbo now.

i like the fact that i own a limited production vehicle. makes resale slightly more desireable, if i ever decide to sell her.

Well, if AGP is now getting ahold of some MS3s, WOOHOO DBB 50trim!!!!! Come on AEM, where's the standalone! That is the downfall to limited numbers of production. We have a unique car, but no one wants to step up because of the "small" market. Thankfully people like AGP and steedspeed are willing. And of course the tuners already on board (Cobb, CP-E, etc.....) THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

How about sharing a little information on AGP and steedspeed for those of us who arent familar with them. Thanks

I would like to see a freon based intercooler that would provide 30 seconds of ice cold air at WOT. Don't laugh, its been done.
