Apples and oranges. I'm not exactly a firm believer of posted speed limits, but I also know when and where you can do things safely. Really how many more stories do we need to read about with some moron who wasted 3 people's lives to prove he has a bigger weenie than the kid in the STi? You add two people - which I guarantee you 99% of the time are young, inexperienced drivers - and let them drag, they are putting more people's lives at risk and neither one can handle it if something goes wrong.

And for the record, I'm 34 and have not once street raced any of my cars.

I can second that! Although i've street raced i can't remember how many times :) But now I feel its pointless, I have a drag strip about 40 miles away and have never once taken my ES to race there. When I got my licience i did some stuff i'm thankful i'm still alive. Keep it legal!

Now if only I can tell my right foot that (humpleg)

Agreed. I never saw this crap with the Mazdaspeed Protege guys, why does it seem like the MS3 guys lack the maturity?

driving your car hard is one thing, but street racing is f-ing ridiculous and needs to be stopped. tttttttttake it to the track! It's easy, safe, fun, education, etc!

Like I said, the MS3 guys are drunk with power.

You never saw this from the MSP guys because frankly the MSP was...well.....pretty darn slow.

Now they have 260hp and 280 lb. ft. to play with and they can't handle the power.

Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility.

Agreed, with all this, but like kids having sex, we all know it happens and will continue to happen, so we need to make it safer. So I say sign up for an HPDE event in your area and get educated on how to handle your car at high speeds and twisty roads. If anyone wants info, PM me, I do about 10 track days a year all over (NHIS, The Glen, Pocono, Tremblant, Lime Rock).

Now, if you are doing to drive your car hard and well over the speed limit, please make sure there is no traffic and you are in a low population area (no pedestrian crossings, commercial establishments, lights etc). Weaving, blowing through lights when they are yellow, doing 100 down the Cross Bronx expressway, not smart ideas. If you have not been trained on how to handle your specific vehicle at high speeds, tone it down.

the glen.. I need to get myself over there when my turbo kit is installed and operational :)

not that it helps at all with learning high speed handling, but you guys should take your cars to an autocross or two to get your fix :)

too bad autox season is over nearly everywhere in the country I'm sure.

Well said. Just like you see young guys wrapping STis and Evos around poles. I'm really amazed when I see teenagers driving around in a new Evo. I remember being young and stupid and 300 hp in the hands of most people (ESPECIALLY teens) is a bad, baaaaaad idea. You have to wonder what the parents are thinking. Now I know why I drove the beaters I drove. Couldn't do anything too stupid in them.

Its just natural selection at work :)

Seriously though, I haven't even tested the limits of my MS3 because, quite frankly, I don't have a death wish - for myself or for others around me.

If I had an MS3, I would not street race, but if I had a long stretch of open highway with no cars in sight...........

be an asshole, i would have loived to see what it can do against a m3 is all i meant. today i heard my car make the wierdest noise....i stoped to let it cool down and i heard a wietrd clicking every now and then and then it stopped. my guess was the water pump or seomthing for the turbo because it came from behind the intercooler. im nto familiar with the water cool system but i heard clicking.....

There's no reason to be a jerk, it was a simple question. We aren't exactly driving 1000hp supras that make good power up that high as to have a reason for going that fast. 110-120 is plenty fast enough to tell if your gonna catch someone or if they're gonna catch you without pushing your luck and potentially hurting yourself or someone else.

It can be hard to resist when everyone in their Civics or Integras with Cold Air Intakes want to race you at every light. But I'm happy to say that I've only raced my former roommate's MS6 and it was on a deserted Country Rd. well after midnight. By the way, I beat him so you MS3 folks better watch out. Jokes, Jokes.

No, it's not hard. All you have to do is laugh at them and drive away.(enguard)

Well I wouldn't do it anyways just based on the fact that I would be putting extra wear and tear on my car for absolutely no reason. The car is in storage for the winter of course which I assure you is really depressing.

I'm a newbie here, but I REALLY hope no one in here is taking this sh*t to the streets. I think anyone who lacks the brains to restrain themselves on public roads doesn't deserve this car or a driver's license. Simply put: you're an idiot if you do it.

There are plenty of car clubs that allow you to sign up for track days at road courses around the country and there are also plenty of legal drag strips. There is zero excuse to put people's lives in danger simply because you can't control your immature ego.

Here's where you can learn to to be a better driver and more responsible:

some say that with great risk comes great reward, but the more risks u take, the more likely u are to end up to get punished. There is nothign wrong with driving fast, but if youre going to take track-level driving speeds to the streets u are putting yourself and everyone else on the road at risk, IMO $15 is nothing to pay compared to what you will pay in tickets/insurance/lawyers if you get caught...not to mention the cost of your own life or someone else on the road

i have yet to break 100 miles per hour, always go to 80 and stop...... havent gone to the track because i kno what the car runs, i wil mod then take it..

Thats why I thank God for my slow protege. I can go 65 and feel like I'm going a hundred! My trusty FS-DE straining for all its worth, the loud booming in the cabin, wind noise all over the place. It FEELS fast baby!!!!!!

You MS3 guys can take your 160mph super rockets and....well you know.
