What have you done to your P5 today?

lol 17x9 +0 isnt going to fit no matter how much camber you run

I doubt those will fit. I have 8" rims and they are barely clearing the strut

oh they will fit (as you can see above) i fit 16x9.5 wheels on my P5, they clear the strut fine, but getting them to fit under the fenders is another story lol

i dont understand how 17x9 on 205 is a fail? there are plenty of guys running that size and it seems like it doesnt get called fail.

and its +0 but im not gonna be getting +0 wheels its gonna be roughly +22ish.

no offense but if you go with a setup similar to that, your car will look like ass IMO. I've always been amazed at how clean and simple your P5 is and I'd be sad to see this happen. It's your car though and I don't pay your bills so it doesn't matter.

no i think this specific setup looks like crap too this was just a test fitment on the 17x9's that i found were avail for me to "test"
i think it looks retarded as heck its hella poked out like a vato truck.
im just wondering why that size is fail when there are plenty other stanced cars with that sizing.
not tryna be an a-hole or sound like one.

I'm not trying to be one either lol. I hate 98% of "stanced" cars so that's why it's stupid to me. I can't speak for anyone else but I dislike that whole movement.

haha yea there are people that hate it, that one mazda3 with the battles is a too much for my taste, but there are some cars that are done right and its clean.

Don't mind me, mate. I'm one of those grumpy "hellafunctional" cats who thinks you should put as much tire as you can fit on the wheel for the most contact patch possible. I don't like stretched tires, reverse staggered wheels and all that non-sense. If it's not functional then it's pointless. Stretched tires are for looks only and doesn't make any sense to me. But it's all good, I understand some cats just like that look and more powa to ya. Sorry if I came off as a prick, or still do. I'm not trying to fire up that debate. :)

nah i wasn't tripping, i was just tryna understand how it was fail thats all.
different strokes for different folks.

im not tryna go hella poked and crap clean will always be my car. i doubt that ill ever go that crazy with the poke camber and stuff.
my intended look 268199_10150233996915957_694730956_7755487_5764924_n.webp

thats the way im going but more flush
those are 17x9 +20 i think
and 18x9 rears

Here's my take...

I am also of the hellafunctional crowd and agree with Evan in that I prefer to squeeze as much rubber on a wheel as I can without "ballooning" the tire; function over form if you will. I have 18x8 and 18x8.5 factory wheels on my Z (the P5 currently don's a sweet set of jackstands) and run a 245/40 on each wheel and that is the look I'm after. I can tolerate a little stretch, but not so that you can tuck wheels that fit within a visa card's width of your fender. The recommended wheel width for a 205/40/17 is between 7-8", why not run that? 205/40 would still look plenty stretched on a 8" wheel but on 9 it looks retarded. When you can start to see the inner lip of the wheel rim, it's time to go wider on the rubber. Not to mention the safety concern with stretched rubber, or the reduced life of the tire and the extremely reduced contact patch in some of the more extreme-camber examples.

Again, we don't pay your bills or consumables for your car, but I say that your car (as it sits with the MSP wheels) is one of the cleanest examples I've seen. I'd cry a little to see you rolling/pulling fenders and tossing camber at it to join this lifestyle fad. To each their own though, that's what makes the car culture so great.

Rediculous:

Still too much:

Still too low on the offest (thus more camber) but a clean stretch:

Here's a 275/40 on a 17x9, also on my Z, while there is no stretch, its very squared and all business, my preferred look. This was my track setup, I run the 18's for DD duties and it looks a bit more pleasing aesthetically than the 17's. For reference, you're talking about taking 70mm of tread out of there.

In the attempts to not turn this into a complete pissing match over stretched / stanced vs functional, how about we just agree on different strokes for different folks? Mainly because I think this back and forth has been beat into the ground harder than Rodney King.

It's one of those things where one could say "Oh, I understand that everyone has their opinion... I just know mine's right."

**** that stanced look LOL!

Just fanning the flames.

I found it is 100% a blown strut I was also told Tokico blues come with a lifetime waratny, can anyone confirm this?

My pile of parts to be installed is growing...I need to decide if I am going to put them on in the next week of two or wait over a month. ;)

But he wanted to know why, and who am I leave my fellow mazda brethren in need of assistance :D? Point taken.

GOOD DEAL!!!!

Tokico offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty on all street use shocks (see here). You're going to want to contact them directly for the best answer. The shocks should have come with a warranty card, but that isn't always required. I know things can get grim if you are not the original owner and no one likes giving away free stuff; hopefully it all goes well for you though.

Got my DG grille from Khaosman in the mail. I'm gonna patch the last bit of rust I care to fix and then paint it if I have enough laser blue paint left in the good ol' $35 rattle can.... otherwise its off to the body shop it goes. This rust will be the death of me... I still have the sideskirt rust, door skins, wee bit on the hatch and the classic passenger strut tower rust. Oh, Canada...

Other than that she's all purdy and fun. Blacked out interior, considering fabric wrapping the pillars seeings as its a b**** to put the B pillars on without scratching the paint (I failed). Ebay full CAI and SS in, loving them both. Changed the oil over the weekend with Castrol Syntec. Now I just need me a wheel bearing, eventually some motor mounts, gotta figure out how to get the stock soft rubber shift linkage bushings out so I can put my urethane ones in, and its off to the states I go!
