Well guys... This is going to be a long post... I don't know if i should be posting this in the down right frustrated and annoyed with my P5 section... wait we dont ahve one of those ( maybe we should get one) anyhow... TODAY... I spent all day learning about my 2002 mazda protege and its transmission and clutch.... funny thing... I needed.. or thought i needed to get a new clutch... common symptoms of lost power in gears... slipping and what not... well I went out and bought a stage 1 clutch from protege garage... I waited and waited and waited... due to the holiday season.. I waited a month, no worries... I finally got it ( had some good communication with ken.. thanks man ) anyhow ... I spent about 5 hours removing the tranny.. cleaning things and what not at the US ARMY's lovely auto center... where you ahve to wait on people to operate the lifts for you and have to use coins to get tools.. ( that is another post some day though) so i removed the tranny, cleaned up everything... some how forgot to unhook the speed sensor.. and broke it.. ARGH!!!! but i got the clutch installed.... then the transmission.. the motor mounts and so on... put some oil in the tranny... checked to make sure i didnt forget anything and took it for a test drive... and man oh man.. my car chakes like hell now... talk about clutch chatter..
(i was careful not to get grease on the fly wheel or anything) so i drove it or a while... about 100 milles actually... and i realize taht there is about 500 miles on a break in.. but crpa man.. is it gonna chatter like that for 500 miles? anywho... all said and done it took me about 7 hours ( drive time incluced) quite frustrating... and to think im a mechanic.. i work on jet engines... man what a day....
so.. is a spec clutch gonna chatter for a while? do i need to tear it alllll apart and start all over? maybe it isnt straght in the pressure plate? ( wouldnt it line its self up with the force of the tranny and what not and centerfugial force? )
