I think he's talking about installing a LED that glows softly on the instrument panel/shifter area. The rx-8 comes with it too I think? My 3 actually has one just under the AC controls that illuminates the shifter area. It's a nice little touch.

What's Ambientlight?

That what i mean with th word "ambientlight" is called ambience light, but in German it is called "Ambientebeleuchtung".

The ambiance lighting in the interior mirror housing contributes to greater safety and comfort: Through the glare-free lighting on two red LEDs can be the driver in the dark interior guided safely and all the important functions quickly find and confusion safely operate.
