What have you done to your P5 today?

Nice deal Vel! I LOVE my TWM. But, i'm seriously regretting selling off the stock knob.

Now, after seeing it on yours, i REALLY wish I woulda kept mine. I've got the Satin TWM knob now

I had the satin TWM classic knob for a while. I liked it because it was heavy but it's kind of bland and boring. I ended up replacing it about a year ago with an '07+ Mazda3 shift knob. It's actually shaped a lot like the '03 P5 shift knob but I think it looks better (it's heavier too).

+1 to the black-painted center console!

today i let my P5 become target practice for every bird in Central MA....or atleast thats how it looks. black mica+pigeon poop= sad P5

Painted the rear valence on the P5 last night - first time I've painted anything, really.

Hey, Tylor, I know you've done both your and your wife's P5, so I had some questions:

1.) Did you paint that inner groove at the top of the valence?
2.) Did you experience any run? If so, do you think I should just re-spray or should I sand down with something and then add one more coat?
3.) I ended up using Krylon Fusion Black Gloss -- did you use BBQ Paint or Flat black paint?

I'd love to hear from anyone else who's painted their rear valence.

1. Yes
2. I did not, but when it chips (did two small times) I have just sprayed a bit of paint
3. BBQ (turned out flat black)

i painted mine with the cheapest flat black i could find... i did it in the middle of winter to... still looks great, 6 months later.

as for runs, you have to sand her down to make it look right... GL with it

I'm a total n00b when it comes to painting (as you can tell), but would green Scotch Brite suffice, or would I really need the red pads?
I wish applying one more coat would cover up runs.

I drove her to work today and I'm still getting that weird hesitation (scratch) Other than that, all is fine.

What he said. lol

And I used BBQ as well, which turned out to be flat.

yeah, you don't actually need to remove any of the old paint. All you're doing with the pad is scuffing it up so the new paint has something to grip ahold of

And, if it does run, yeah, you'll need to buff that out and respray

Thanks for the input, guys.
Hrm, well with the job on it now, it already did run on two spots.
Would a re-spray fix it, or would I absolutely have to buff it?
Looks like I might just have to try (someone stop me if I'm going to just ruin it more) and see.
