What have you done to your non-mazda today?

Got the hitch on the Mustang today. What a pain in the ass!

Just started the Civic up and let it ran for a little while. It's been parked since November.

I'm about to go outside and work on the BMW. I got a new starter for it.

yesterday... I removed the downpipes and gutted the precats while installing my borla true dual exhaust.

total labor: 14hours.

not fun.

today I'm repairing some of the $8,000 hail damage, by painting my new hood.

no clear yet, needs some sanding and repainting of some pitted areas.

and while I'm waiting for the garage to warm up to paint the clear I got crazy with a power washer.
before

after

I shouldn't have (don't really need to be spending money right now) but I bought a stock GT muffler for the Mustang today.

Word on the Mustang forums is that there really is a big difference in power and sound. I guess we'll see.

I changed the air filter, cabin filter, and replaced a couple of exterior trim bits.

I got a better high flowing foam drop in filter for my intake("overnight parts from Japan" lol literally, except it did not get here overnight.):

While I had the intake apart I descided to paint the intake pipe gold:

Better and bigger updates soon to come

Got my wheels for my 68 Impala and started to piece together my brake kit :)
They are Coys C5, and 20x8.5 for the fronts, and 20x10 for the rears!

I got caught out in the rain with the top down for the 1st time w/ this car. No big deal, was going 50 at the time so I just rolled the windows up and waited it out. By the time I had to slow down it had already let up lol

Haven't done much but drive the thing and get it dirty lately, until tonight.

Tonight I finally got under the rear and solved the obnoxious noise it's been making ever since I put the trailer hitch on. I guessed pretty early on that the noise was the hitch making contact with the muffler or the bumper cover, but couldn't actually prove it, and didn't have time to deal with it. Besides as LOUD and OBNOXIOUS as it was, with the top down and/or the radio cranked, I couldn't really hear it!

Anyway, tonight I got under there, and there's a dent in the muffler perfectly lined up with a bare spot in the powdercoat on the hitch - clearly the point of contact. So, I took a piece of radiator hose, cut it in half and zip-tied it around the hitch at the point where the contact occurs. Took it for a test-ride and NO noise! YAY!!!

After that, I did the most half-assed wash job I've done in a long time, mostly 'cause I can't find most of my car-wash tools. Eh, it's got to be better than it was.

All in all, a good day for the Mustang.

97 Talon (picked up to be my beater and needs new tranny)

Pulled the motor mounts to find them all ripped and then only to find that the side engine mount plate that bolts to the block has 2 studs and one bolt. Well one stud ripped the threads out of it and the bolt cracked out the end of the plate. So only one bolt actually holding the engine in place. Got to get a new plate now.

Road tripped it to Roanoke and back, the Muffler-noise fix worked all the way there and back!

Drove up to DC in the S2k (just under 600 miles door to door), averaged just a hair over 29 mpg @ ~70 mph. With the A/C on the whole way. Not bad for a car rated at 26 mpg highway.

I got better mileage than that in the Mustang!
