What have you done to your non-mazda today?

My mother-in-law is from Ithica NY. Crazy-cold winters there, so she never uses her parking brake. She grew up that way. It drives me crazy on the occasions that I drive her car. She has stuff on/in the center area so I can't even grab the handbrake!

With the Current gen of Mustang cables freezing is a common problem, apparently caused by a bad batch of cable boots that crack and allow moisture to get in and freeze. Ford knows about it, has a TSB on how to fix it, and doesn't do it for free, so **** me, huh?

If I weren't in this crappy apartment with most of my tools (including my ramps) in storage, I'd take care of it myself, but for now, I'm just trying to remember not to pull the handbrake if it's under 30*.

So, now the Mustang is sitting, waiting for a thaw. :(

Ah gotta love Ford, lol.

Cleaned the TL today and shopped around for some new springs and stickier tires. I decided not to get some rims for the TL. Seen a lot of pics of the TL dropped on stock 17's and it looks really nice. So We will see in the next couple weeks.

1/19/09 UPDATE II:

Installed my hybrid intake tonight with the help of obsnw. I got a full cold air intake for it but was told that CAI or SRI's don't work well with the MAF on my car. So I improved the air flow on the stock intake by removing all the plastic piping and torque box. Here she is. I will eventually powdercoat the intake pipe gold:

Looked at mine, saw the foot of snow on it, and got in the Mazda.

installed the new clutch and put the tranny back on, putting the driveshaft in today then pouring in some fluid then gonna take it for a ride :-)

Not a car but it is my "other ride" and just recently took $600 of perfectly good Mazda modding money away for a cymbal rack and a few new/used cymbals and a 2nd bass drum. She has a few miles on her but a few cymbals and stands I've had since I was 10yrs old which is 27 years ago!

Took my fathers 2007 VW Rabbit to the carwash, someone egged it a couple nights ago.

1/20/09 UPDATE:

Got my new head lamps today to replace my broken ones. I also blacked them out before installing them:

I had a little trouble getting out of the parking lot @ my work.

I had to wait about two hours for the water level to drop. As you see, the sidewalk and the entrance ramp are all submerged. Damn clogged sewer drain.
