What have you done to your MSP today?

lol, no it's not sarcasm. It was an actual question. I actually thought about that because air still passes through the radiator into the engine bay and if I were to make a shroud there, it would block any air from getting into the engine bay. and even though coolant keeps the temps down, the temps in the engine bay could increase without some type of airflow in there...unless I had a vented hood or something.

Finally got the cams lined up, i'm 99% sure, I did the socket extension trick to find TDC and the marks are lined up. Now I just need to install the ARP studs and vacuum block. When I install the vacuum block it goes on the brake booster vacuum line right? I know there is a check valve in that line, which side of the valve do I put it on? The wastegate and BPV will run off this vac block correct? I just have no idea how to install this thing. I also have no idea how tight to tighten the new ARP studs I have for the exhaust mani, no instructions with that either.

well see this is what i was thinking, take out useless SMIC cuz i have FMIC and make a duct work fitting that exact spot that had a small vent probably 4 inches high and 2 inches wide depending on how much space i could get to fit in there and have it direct air directly to the turbo hopefully cooling it down in the long run

I forgot to mention, did a series of overnight shifts for work last week, but had to drive 60 miles to get there (120 round trip). I almost made the 4 nights in 1 tank of gas, but chickened out at the end. Anyways, all highway miles, but my untuned MSP averaged 32.57 mpg.

Not bad IMO...

it goes on the brake booster line, and to the intake manifold side of the check valve (so left of it)
yes, the BOV and WG will run off the vac block, and with the ARP studs, not sure how tight,
if there isnt a torque spec then just as tight as u feel comfortable, i would use some red loctite on the studs to keep them in the head

washed it

Ok thanks Simon. I thought the WGA isn't supposed to see vacuum? I will tighten the studs as much as I can without ruining the head or exhaust mani.
washed it
Car looks fuggin great, I can't wait to check it out once I get mine running. Gold calipers would set if off, IMO.

i've been lazy, but im hoping to get black lug nuts for it, wanted to go with black calipers...gold would look good too...we'll see.

well technically its not supposed to see vacuum, but since mazda set it up that way from the factory thats just how i ran mine
if you dont want it to see vacuum, you can drill and tap the compressor housing for a 1/4npt to 1/4 hose adapter
or buy one of those quick tap things that go through a coupler, either one works

Turns out selling my car was a good idea, s*** is starting to break already lol. I miss it my friend owns it now but its gonna be a money pit. new slave, master, battery, radiator exploded welcome to the MSP bro. I think the LSD is next.
