What have you done to your MSP today?

EBC rotors, Green Stuff pads, Goodridge stainless lines, and new BFG tires. (also, oil and filter change) tomorrow is inspection and then i'm putting on my Vibrant 3" catless DP!!! that's right, i said CATLESS...

Ordered more parts today again ,dam this is so habit forming
Getting close to all that is needed to start my build !

Nitto NT555 225/35/18's stick and move :) pretty good and still tuck with 50mm offset

Miguel get some good tires dude!

I know Shane, but the problem is i still have 4 new sets of tires at home to use, without counting the new ones im currently running.. once i use all of them im going to get wider tires, something like 225 or 235 35s with 15mm spacers.

So question on a cheap mod for the MSP. I was talking to a guy last night about doing a semi-straight pipe. I say semi because the only thing leaving is essentially the muffler. He was telling me that it'd be easy to take the muffler out of the equation because there is a bend in the stock exhaust near the rear passenger door that I could simply cut, then clamp (or better weld) an extension to just in front of the wheel.

Here are my questions:
1. As it's been discussed on that other dudes car, would me being on stock everything else potentially cause harm in doing this?
2. I doubt there would be, but would there be any significant power gains (I repeat, I doubt it but just wondering)
3. Would it sound God awful?
4. Would I be better off just straight piping from the (can't recall which) j/s pipe?
5. Would I be better off spending cash to get a nice exhaust or electronic dump?

Basically I just want my car to a smidge louder than stock because stock sounds kinda wimpy IMO. Thanks in advance for some answers.

IMHO, if all you're after is louder/deeper sound, the easiest thing would be to pick up a cat-back exhaust system.... Magnaflow, Borla, Greddy, etc.

You'd get a louder, deeper exhaust note and prolly pick up a few ponies as well, with no CEL as it wouldn't affect your stock ECU.

Yeah i'm the Spanish Dude that is running 215/35/18 Nankang Ultra Sport NS-II shoes on RX-8 18X8 Wheels lol lol lol lol.. i love my 35 Series tires my car feels awesome atleast i like the way it feels and performs. i also think 205 is not wide enough, when my tires are gone i'm going to put 225's or 235's with 15mm Spacers and 35 or 40 profile tires to gain a bit of more grip, but til today i'm happy with what i'm currently running...

what kind of drop do you have if any? im running sportlines and have a deal on some rx8 wheels. what tires would you recommend and how would i mke them fit?

today i did nothing to the car. Hopefully i will be paying a guy for a sls pass MM and possibly paying for my CF wind splitter.

Dirty, do it man, it'll sound good. You can't really get a rice note with the turbo. I think Justinlandale got a straigh pipe exhaust and it sounds good.

This is currently the drop i have on Tein Super Street Coilover Suspension, and Just RX-8 Wheels with Nankang Ultra Sport NS-II Tires 215-35-18. no spacers needed, these wheels will fit with no problems with any drop and without spacers and 0 rubbing no matter how hard you drive the car or even with 6 people inside the car including my self.. I love how these wheels look against any aftermarket ones simply a clean luxrury look.

This picture have been photoshoped to match car color to the wheels, also door frames and some tweak to make the wheels look a bit bigger, something like 19 but overall is how my drop and car looks..

I would say no but for that price the shop should do a great job. Don't settle for anything other than perfection. If it was just doors it would be less since you can take those off and just paint em wherever but for the roof you have to mask everything off and it just takes up more space.

A good shop won't just paint the doors and roof... they'll blend the paint across a greater area to get a good color match. Combine that with the fact that its a 3-stage paint job and there will be prep time to scuff up the surfaces to receive paint, etc and $2K may be close. But always get three bids... have each explain whats included, and then trust your guts. The low bid may not be the best deal, if the finished product doesn't thrill you.

not all the time the more expensive is the best way to go. Everything that shines is not gold if you know what i mean...

True, but when it comes to paint, you're a lot more likely to pay a s*** load for a great job than average for a great job.

Well ive seen estimates from places to do a same job where the expensive one was s*** and the lowest one was better done.. so dont just trust the expensive job what it matters is the final results..
