What have you done to your MSP today?

crawled under my car as far as i could and sprayed the bushings wih white lithium grease. Im letting it soak in for the rest of the night, the verdict tomorrow. If this doesnt work then im gonna have the springs checked and if im lucky just have the bushings replaced i guess

You may have to actually remove the U bracket and grease the inside of the bushings

dropped off the cantercaps from my racing harts off at the powdercoater
should be done at the end of the week =]

5 bucks a cap
2 bucks per bolt head

going to get a new MAF from the stealership tomorrow. hopefully it will solve my problems.

to those who didn't know my issues are: bucking, stalling, hesitation, and smelly exhaust.

edit: oh yea and a CEL.

well that's what one of the CEL's says. yea i know i said i only had one, but the one that is showing up says it's an issue with the warmup cat. and the tech told me that there was a second CEL code that wasn't showing up on the dash, but when he put it on the computer it said it's running really rich. if the new MAF doesn't solve my issues, hopefully a new exhaust will. that would be very convenient since i already ordered my GHL. but it won't be here for a couple weeks most likely. :(

there is no such thing as a "bad cat"

and as for the code that didnt show up on the dash it was most likly a pending code that was only seen once and has not matured into a true DTC yet

its always best when you have codes read to take the code for what the code is, not someones interpretation of the code
look up what the enabling criteria is for a P0420 which is a low catalyst effiency code (comonly refered to as the bad cat code)
and youll see that it could be the farthest thing from a bad cat

...how is there no such thing as a bad cat?

Ricktalife what are the exact codes you are getting from the car? and are they pending, history, or current codes?

i don't remember the exact codes. all i know is that the current one said something about "warmup cat" and the pending code said that i'm running really rich. (which is nothing new i'm sure)

p0420 and p017(somthing, 171 i know is lean) i assume is what your getting? how is the the first o2 sensor looking? I know protege's have a tendancy to go through the o2 sensor before they go through the MAF but would really need to see a data list of what the car is doing to confirm where the problem is.

well i've had 2 technicians look at the CEL's so far. both work at my dealership (bobby rahal honda)...the first guy said he thinks it's the 02 sensor (when i first got the CEL about my "warmup cat") and the 2nd guy thinks that it's the MAF, but i didn't have the 2nd tech look at my car until it started running like s*** on me. sorry to confuse you guys lol.

as far as my first 02 sensor goes, the first tech thought it needed replaced and he's probly right since it's all covered in electrical tape. however correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought the MAF controls how much fuel my car gets, and the 02 sensor's just monitor it right?

edit: p0420 does sound familiar

Replace the o2 sensor first, your MAF can't be dead already, I had the same codes when I had my MSP, threw in a new o2 and badda bing badda boom, code gone

WHOA!!! huge red flag....covered in electrical tape? and there are many factors which determin fuel delivery. The o2 not only monitors fuel but gives the ecu and idea of how to adjust the fuel delivery based on the other inputs
