What have you done to your MSP today?

if you don't mine my asking, whats your deductable? assuming its under 2K (99% are) it doesn't really matter... long as it all gets put back together right..

my deductible is 500. yea you're right all that matters is as long as it gets fixed, it just hurts inside to know how much damage i've done the (previously) nicest car i've ever owned.

but the LSD alone is enough reason to deem the car unreliable

an unexpected expense of 2 grand on a car (which I do note is 15% of the value of the car when I bought it) is enough to be wary about it

don't get me wrong, I love msps and will always love them....but you are in denial if you think it is a reliable mode of transportation

not to mention the wastegate problem usually goes without notice to the average person....that alone can cause the motor to overboost and blow

the msp is really a -drivers- car, someone who can spot an issue before it becomes a problem....but as a daily driver for the average person it is not reliable

Maybe I am being a little over confident in my car but as a mechanic (I'm not really a mechanic but i change motors and trannys for my dads car lot while i go to school) my self I can say that besides the WGA and the klunk every thing that has failed on my car was my fault. Beause of me driving and modding the car.

I think thats probably the best way to put it... also makes me wanna get a boost gauge in ASAP. lol Especially seeing I've had the column pod for like 4 months now.

I dont know why people would go from a msp to a evo, sti or any turbo car and expect reliablity. I dont think turbo cars are all that reliable. If u want a reliable car u should get a n/a. To me if i got a turbo car if its a evo or anything i would have a hard time not modding it simply because of its potential. But u can only do so much to a n/a car. Remember this is only my opnion. Dont flame me.

But i have the msp because its my dream car. And im willing to spend the extra penny for it.

this may seem like a dumb question, but are we talkin about killing it while really throwing down, or just trying to drive to work in traffic <_<. mine has 85k/km on it. not getting a lot of confidence from this thread =O!

i broke mine pulling away from a stop light, it was not a hard take off either cuz there was a cop ahead of me and it snapped, 400 miles from home i might add haha

oh I totally agree
I may be moving on to an evo too, but only because I'm tired of dumping (quite literally) thousands and thousands of dollars into the car only to achieve 300whp....I do have to admit that I've put WAY more into the car because of mistakes I made and not spending the extra bit each time to make sure it will be reliable, however I had recently added up the total cost of the parts in the current build (including the extra bit to make it reliable at that power level...but not including the cost of my prior mistakes) and it totaled up to around 9 grand

I'm really tired of having to spend that kind of money, and can't really afford to risk it again with no daily driver anymore...it was cool a year ago when I didn't need a daily but not so much anymore...I'd rather spend two grand to get an evo to a smooth ~300awhp, (MUCH more reliably, though it still is risky I do agree), and be done with it

though due to a fortunate offer from my father I'll be keeping my MSP built motor/tranny/turbo kit for use later and he's helping me just throw in a stock motor/tranny/turbo kit so I can sell it...and I'm really thankfull he's willing to help dig me out of the hole I put myself into with my daily hahaha...all mistakes I've learned from ;-)

expect a full track car build in the next year or so when I get some money together to buy a P.O.S. used sedan hahaha

lol, the evo will keep me broke, but I'd rather have it keep me moving while being broke than have it be money spent while it sits without a motor =P

besides, if I could just swap a stock motor into it then it's about a quarter the cost than having to actually build the motor each time lol

Had you listened to me and had my machine shop build your original forged motor we would never be having this conversation. You'd be loving the MSP instead of hating it for it's short comings.

I don't hate it for it's shortcomings lol

I love the msp, nor do I blame any of my problems on the msp (other than the LSD snapping)....nor do I have any regrets about having ****** up with my build so many times, cause I learned my lessons the hard way and I would never ever have learned how to properly build a motor (we will see if this one turns out right)

I'm not arguing my car as a specific case, lol you guys keep thinking I am

I'm talking in general, looking from the case of a LOT of msps I've seen on here (and a LOT of msps that I've worked on)

lol, why?
I can have my cake and eat it to

get the evo and enjoy the car I've wanted for a LONG time.....then get a cheap protege, gut it and turn it into a full track car

I'm not selling the built stuff

nope, I'm set on the evo
I have a thousand and one reasons to, and I do plan on picking up a cheap beater protege in the next year as well to turn into a track car

I'm taking advantage of offers that I've been extended while I still can, it's not everyday in this market that someone with no credit gets offered a fix apr at 8% ;-)
