What have you done to your MSP today?

Well I finally past the 50,000 mile mark. Keeping my figures crossed that it won't have too many problems. Emphasis on the "too many."

for the past couple weeks, i have noticed a slight 'wha wha wha' sound inside the car... i have climbed all over the engine bay to find the culprit, but you can only hear it inside... well on my way to work this morning, i heard a 'slap slap slap'... and i definately lost the power stearing belt. damn. Just glad it was its own belt and not running anything else.

ahh, so AC is down also. Anyone have a how-to on replacing it yourself? or would it be too much trouble?... i looked through the how-to threads and didn't see anything.. called two shops and got a quote for $103 and another for $125.. really don't want to spend that if i can do it myself...

im at 87k now. runs like a champ*

*sometimes it doesnt but thats no fault of the car, its the shotty cracked mani i have.

hit 80,000 miles the other day and now have a nice rattling/slight banging sound coming from the front passenger wheel/suspension area. have no idea what it is, it comes and goes.

Well no more carbon fiber hood for me. Until it's redone, it's stock hood time.

For 3-4 days I rode around with no hood. Twas fun.

took it to get welding quote for larger inlet/outlet pipes on my turbohoses hotpipe and air intake pipe. Materials cost $15.00, labor cost $90 per hour, could take around 2-3 hours so looking at about $290.00 all together

saw a blue msp sitting at the parking lot of agile automotive performance in Maryland yesterday when i was getting a welding quote. had a carbon fiber hood, anyone here?

I don't think I'll ever get rid of the turkey. I just had a HKS SSQV welded in and I still get a little turkey at low boost levels. It's using the brake booster as its vacuum source too. It probably has to do with the 8 miles of other vacuum lines I have under the hood.

well, that's good to know...at least now if my car still has the turkey, i won't be standing under the hood scratching my head.

Yeah, ever since my AFC and 626 IM install my vacuum lines have gone all over the place. It doesn't help that I have a line the runs from the engine bay, into the cabin and then over to the passenger's side (probably like 6 ft!). Once 505zoom's new IM comes out I'm going to be motivated to clean things up quite a bit. Thing is, I still probably won't need a vaccum block...

dude if you've got a basic set of metric sockets and box-end wrenches then do it yourself, its really quite simple

just replace both belts at the same time........basically you just gotta go up by the power steering pump and loosen it up on top and on bottom, which takes the tension off the belt....swap the belt and install in reverse

I can't recall if the belt for the alternator is on the inside or outside, I think it's the inside...but if you replace that belt as well then it's basically the same process as the power-steering pump

I'm pretty sure all you need is a 14mm box end and a 14mm socket actually lol

damn, i looked up a repair manual online and it was saying you needed to have a tool to measure the tension and compression on the belt. Since i didn't want to install it out of spec, i just let them do it. They did it over lunch and replaced both belts... $50.00 in labor that i wasted.. oh well, will know how to next time.
