What have you done to your MSP today?

anyone here have any problems with protegegarage before? I ordered brake pads from them a little over a week ago and I was told they would be here yesterday, they are closed for holiday but I have talked to ken because my account never updated from "processing" I have off monday but only in the morning and was planning on putting pads on then. I didnt even get a tracking number so I have no f'ing clue where the hell they are, any help would be appreiated

Well at least you havent been waiting since Valentines day for a mount.. Ive pm'd him several times about it with no reply.. Im closing in on a month and a half..

I fixed a few things today. Fixed my rattling power steering cooler, and while I was in there I found my missing exhaust gasket chilling behind the IC. I had looked everywhere but there for it, lol. (bang)

Threw that back in and gave the DP - midpipe connection fresh new 10.9 SS bolts/washers/nuts. Fired it up and was amazed at what it did. Not only does it sound like a brand new engine compared to how it did, but I also no longer have the ultra lean (17+) condition at idle that I had ever since installing the 28RS way back in the day. It also feels a million times smoother, it's almost like I went back to stock mounts, haha.

I had no idea that a leak at the DP - MP connection could cause a lean condition like that, so I hadn't ever even checked it. Instead of my AEM reading 3 lines because the AFR is over 17, it is now bouncing lightly between 14.7 and 15.2. Beyond stoked. (rockon)

Also tightened up my alternator belt because it was a little loose. I had my alternator tested at autozone last week and it passed with flying colors, so I hope this solves my charging issues.

^^^ Had the same thing happen to me last summer when one of my s-pipe studs backed out. For over a week I wracked my brain trying to figure out the lean condition at idle. Of course it rained that whole week so I couldn't get the car into the air to look. As soon as I got it up I found the problem. The dumbest things sometimes...

was the car lean all the time at idle? or just randomly?

I have a leak there as well. That is definitely the cause of my idle issues. I was going to just deal with it until I get my new ion exhaust in!

Just at idle and really light loads. It actually also triggered a System too lean code as well. Once I got the car up and noticed I was missing the stud I turned it on to see if I had a leak - sure enough I did. Enough to feel quite a bit blowing around the flanges. Replaced the stud, AFRs went back to normal and the code cleared itself within the day.

Yeah man I had tried finding vacuum leaks, even though my vac gauge was reading normal. Tried seafoam. Tried a new fuel filter. Tried relocating the MAF. Tried new IC pipes. Tried no BOV or BPV. Cleaned the EGR. lol. I had given up and pretty much said screw it, figured that it must have been a side-effect of using the 28RS on there. Never even crossed my mind that a exhaust leak anywhere other than at the manifold could mess with the AFR's like that. 2 whole points +, and it wasn't even a big leak.

Now I know I guess, haha.

Yeah really! I was changing O2 sensors, the MAF and checking everything was well. I'm glad it was something so trivial but man did it drive me crazy! I thought something was seriously wrong with my car.

but was it all the time or randomly? sometimes my a/f spikes lean at idle, but i blip the throttle and it brings it back down. this does not happen often.

Mine does that sometimes as well. But with the exhaust leak it was a constant lean condition. Mine wasn't as bad as 505zoom's but my idle AFRs were like 16-17:1

Mine was constant except for just after startup when the car was real cold. After a couple minutes my gauge would always read "---" lean, and if I blipped the throttle it wouldn't take it more than a few seconds to go back to pegged.

Other than being a little rough and occasionally giving me some low idle and/or stalling issues, running that lean at idle didn't seem to cause any real problems.

yea i was surprised when i found out about that lean condition too. I even told ken about it cause i couldnt beleive it. lol
