What have you done to your MSP today?

$750 shipped for the Superlaggeras is pretty good too. I might go for those. Am I going to run into any rub issues with the 8" wide rim?

On the other hand $800 for a full set of Volks is a steal. Would a spacer help bring the 40mm offset closer to the 48mm that I need for stock fitment?

the rim should clear, its the size tire you put on it (I'd got with a 225 to make it worth it...) may run into clearance issues, especially on the rear fender.

Based on look alone, I'd hit the Superleggera's. I used to not like more than a 6 spoked wheel but my taste has changed alot. Also, don't buy Rotas. Period.

You only buy Rotas for two reasons.

1. You own a Honda Civic.
2. You want something cheap and built poorly.

I just did the wheel/tire calculator thing here on the forums and I think I might be able to get away with those Volks

The fitment inside the wheel well should be the same, it would just push the tire out slightly further (8mm), but probably not rub the fender. I'd powdercoat them gunmetal or black or something too... SO TEMPTING

Thats why I voted for the Volks... less chance of clearance issue; built studier for track use without gaining weight; easy to modify color.

Wouldn't the first indicate the second was true? Though I live by the mantra "Friends don't let friends buy Rotas" I do respect the fact that they are dirt cheap and fairly lightweight. I also understand that they are like buying APC racing seats and wondering why your body is folded in half after the crash... I was just tossing it out there...

I was wondering guys i have on my MSP RX-8 Wheels 18 X 8 and currently running 215-35-18 tires, I want to bring my wheels flush to the fenders, i dont mind if i need to roll the fenders to do so, i was wondering what thickness of Spacers can i get, centric Hub of course, any ideas, 10mm, 15mm etc etc.... Im doing some online shopping and since the car is at the shop i dont have any ways of finding out how thick i can go, any ideas fellas ????

Im currently running 3mm spacers in the rear wheels, this is how it looks like.

That's not flush?

yeah...

need a shot almost parallel to the car...and my bet is 15mm is WAY too much. honestly, instead of doin spacers, I'd just put wider rubber under the car. it'll beef up the stance, and you get function out of it while you're at it. Spaceing the wheels out will also throw your camber out...

and what do you base that on? those same 2 pics of broken rotas that have been floating around for years? every wheel maker has defects and honestly all of these wheels probably come out of the same factories as more "upscale" wheels lol

sure they're knock offs of more expensive designs but there for people that dont feel like paying 4x as much for the same s*** in the end (dunno)

I know but the problem is, i bought back at Miami very cheap and i mean cheap 2 sets of 4 of these tires including the brand new ones im already running at $ 25 each tire, so that means im not putting any wider tires in the near 3 or 4 years or more and i want to bring my wheels very flush to the fenders and the only way is to add spacers. 10mm you think is too thick ?

at that price, you should be able to resell them for a profit EASILY, and then pick up a wider, better tire.

Well things in here are completely different, in here in SPAIN not a lot of people can run theses tires because basically you need to legalize your wheels and tires to your car in order to pass inspections and drive around without getting a damn ticket. Basically i cant sell them to anybody i know what your saying and you have a good point but, who im going to sell 12 brand new 215-35-18 tires ? you know....

Any ideas how thick can i go with these wheels and tires of mine to make them look aggressive and flush?

Don't think you can really go fatter, everyone with a msp whose had 18"s runs the same exact tire size, no more, no less.

lay a strait edge across the wheel well where you want it to be flush... measure back to the wheel face, add 3mm, and you have the size spacer you're lookin for.

its impossible to tell from the pic you posted, and difficult to tell without being there in person at all.
