What have you done to your MSP today?

lol ... I get followed by the poe-poe all the time. so I feel your pain ( tinted windows, blacked out headlights, catless exhaust, CF hood ) I don't get anything out of it except a laugh though. I guess after running my plate and having it come back to someone close to 40 with no tickets they figure why bother.

took some pics as i left work today...

Good to hear, how did the pistons look? Did you go with a Multi layer steel HG?

Pistons were black as hell with lots of crud on them, not damaged or anything and the cylinder walls look good. I got the Felpro head gasket kit, the HG is MLS, stock bore and thickness im assuming. The kit has head, VC , EM, IM, TB, Jpipe, coolant block and WP gaskets, cam seals, valve stem seals, and fuel injector O rings. Pretty good deal for $120, its
only $91 on rockauto. Also got a quote for $200 for a set of head bolts from Mazda so I ordered a $40 aftermarket set off of Rockauto and a new set of NGK ZFR6Fs.

I was driving the Bullitt Monday (my GF and I's 1 year anniversary going to dinner) and didnt see an SUV coming fast around a blind corner and she nailed my drivers rear quarter panel. Hopefully it isnt totaled but it really sucks, needs a QP, rear bumper, rim, and axle since its bent. Car was spotless, barely has 20k miles but it will be fixed if the 'frame' isnt bent.

bad to hear about the Bullitt. But you should be fixed up on their dime.

I ordered ARP head studs for my MSP. Studs can handle the stress better so I vote for those. They where $125 but better is worth $85 more.

Its not me this time but a local friend of mine is having an issue. When he goes into boost it shakes and shudder and he said it feels like he hits a brick wall. My first thought was wga. He checked it, holds air. Any other thoughts? I live about 45 minutes from him and can't. See it in person right now so was just gonna ask corksport thoughts on here. His mods are pope 3 inch dp, cs 80mm exhaust, turbolife fmic, hks black, and a ram air intake. Maf is relocated. Any ideas would be great

Well when I had a legit wga fail there was no shake or shudder. There was just a massive spike from 8 up to 18 lbs then fuel cut which is a hardcore jolt. Shake and shudder is more misfire, have him check the plugs. See if they are carbon fouled (rich misfire) or if the tip is a white color (lean misfire). Depending on his set up it could be somthing as simple as the plugs have the wrong gap. Now I know I'm gonna hear "these arent mustangs" but when I had my stang dyno'd the car wouldn't stop missing in boost, turns out I needed to re-gap the plugs down to .035" ran like a champ pull after pull. I've also had a coil fail on my MSP which was a rich misfire in 2 cylinders. Could even be a blown head gasket (as bad as that sounds). The plugs will tell a lot about whats up.

remember go thru the different factors: fuel, air, spark, compression

decked the head, installed arp studs (head and exhaust mani), replaced bushings and endlinks, painted calipers, rewired gauges, clay barred, and replaced vacuum lines

do proteges need rear wheel alignments? i know on my last car, the rears were fixed and not adjustable so it didn't need alignment in the rears. just double checking so i don't get ripped off :P

Happened out of the blue. Setups been on the car for 2 weeks now. Ill check the plugs sometime soon.

And yea rear can need alignment cause of possible toe out if you messed with the bolts for it

i took out my coilovers and haven't noticed any uneven tire wear in the rear. the front tires on the other hand..... lol

I had funny toe issues on my P5. Well... still do, but the car is going bye-bye soon, so I don't care.

I'm pretty upset about the Bullitt, but hopefully it isn't totalled. Since I had to yield it's my fault. Even thought it was night time and she DIDN'T have her lights on and was going WELL over the 30mph speed limit. Complete ******* bulls***.

I should have just ordered the ARPs, considering they are less than the OEM bolts, but I need the car on the road and have already spent more than I could afford. Especially if the stock radiator leaks when I get it back together due to the top inlet cracking when I pulled the upper hose off.
