What have you done to your MSP today?

Finished installing the 10" slim fans and putting the front end back together. FMIC is done!

Car runs and drives great. Turbo spools faster and cold pipe is cool to the touch after a drive in boost.

I think it might be time to get the AC recharged after 8 years. It was crazy hot outside and the AC was blowing as cold as im used too...

I did have to bend some of the lines to the dryer and bend the dryer itself back some for the install but I don t think anything is leaking...

Just so i know...the lines going and coming out of the dryer will be pretty hot to the touch right? The AC lines arent getting as cool to the touch.

I think they're supposed to be hot/warm. But make sure nothing is pinched

yeah, definitely no pinching. I didnt have to move anything that much, just a little contorting. Nothing got moved to the point of creasing or anything. I think its just the extreme heat today. But a recharge couldnt hurt.

oh, and just incase someone asks. Both slim fans turn on when AC is turned on the drivers side fan turns on when the car is warmed up just like the stockers did so those work great :D

My AC isnt as cold after installing my FMIC either. I will recharge it but im wondering if the slim fans cant keep up?

Hmmm i wouldnt think so but you never know. If a recharge doesnt help I wonder if it wouldnt be a bad Idea to install a 3rd slim fan set up to "push" and mount it on the passenger side of front of the AC cooler.

Thoughts?

Assuming you can wire it up without overloading anything, I can't imagine any bad results. I really like your FMIC, evil. What did you use to mount it to the crash bar? Just have some small pieces of aluminum for a custom bracket I just haven't got around to it so my core is tilted a little :(

I marked and drilled holes into the crash bar then cut out a square on the back side of the crash bar so I could insert bolts and be able to torque them down. Used the mount holes on the top of the intercooler :D

Ahh nice. I was wondering if you cut those off or what. I was going to use those mounts too but I don't have any tools that will cut through my crash bar, so I guess I'll have to take it to a shop and have them make me a new setup.

ever since my mam fmic install ive had the same problem. i have a heat exchanger there now and its been crap AC since. in fact i have a CS rad and im starting to think one fan isnt enough (since the pass fan is AC). I think im going to try to put the 2 slim fans on one circuit as the rad fans and then deal with ac later. I dont use the AC much but with a full rad i dont think one slim fan is enough for a full size rad. after all the car was designed with a 3/4 rad.

I have 2 10" slims on the Rad and both come on when the AC is on. I'd imagine that should be enough pull. But as I said, if not it would be easy to mount a fan to the front of the AC core and set it for push and wire it to the same stock harness. That I would imagine would give you that little extra.

I did notice that with the 2 fans the engine temp is running normal so I'm not concerned about the possible lacking pull on these. The air it pulls feels a lot stronger than I remember the stockers being.

No air compressor? If so, just head to your nearest harbor freight, an air cutter and 10 pack of cutting blades will run you under $20

Congrats man. If I remember it correctly, you had a pretty cool MSP. Good luck with the new Honduh :D.

On another note, is anyone selling their Racing Harts? I'm looking to spend 300. I want them as winter wheels so curb rash is ok. No bends or anything like that. They have to be true.

I might but chippy has first dibs

Your using a torque wrench? the easiest way to get the mounts in and out is with an impact. If you dont have one, trust me, you should invest in one. Best thing I ever bought

I wave an impact gun, but it has 200 something ft/lbs of torque where I only need what maybe 60? I think its too big anyway. I loosened the bolts with a 1/2 drive socket wrench and a breaker bar.

Just got home from watching RX-8's take 1, 2 and 3rd place in the Grand Am Rolex racing series in NJ, but coming home though Philly I was stuck on 676 due to cops shutting down both ways of 676.... I had to take back ways to get around... Fml. My oil temp got up to 255, highest it has EVER been. F this heat and F traffic. It took over a hour longer to get home from that. And my legs and but hurt D:
