What have you done to your MSP today?

Im sure there are benefits to having a genuine vibrant ect core but for the same size i dont see how many design differences there could be to increase performance enough for the 5x more expensive price. Sure if you wanna run a turbolife sized core, maybe.

I would imagine higher boost levels would demand a better quality core. But for us guys running stock boost or close to it, we don't need a huge core that is just going to cause more lag. I mean if a SMIC upgrade is sufficient below 10 psi then obviously an average sized FMIC will be plenty big enough.

vibrant is what I'm running.. picked it up cheap used. lol

yea..nothing against those who have CX racing cores, but when my brother had extra parts laying around I threw his core on my car
and man, it was terrible, big difference in spool up, car felt a ton slower, so the quality of the core plays a big role
if you get a cx racing kit, at least just get the pipes and run a decent quality IC, theres a huge difference

lol when i handle my front mount its like im handling a child. hahaha im super careful with it. so as long as you dont go playing baseball with your core then an ebay one from my guess is perfectly fine. :)

I did see the tube and fin, wasn't sure what that was all about. Thanks for the heads up. This is the one I'm probably getting.

Looks like a good drop in size for better fitment, but should still provide good performance.

That is the very one I have. look closer...It says 2" inlet/outlet. I didn't want to go through the hassle of sending it back so I just got some 2.5" to 2" reducer couplers. Might wanna go for the bigger inlet/outlet.

Yea I saw the I/O sizes and I'm not really worried about it other than the fact that I will have to buy 2 more couplers and they are ****** expensive. (vibrant ones)

lol its up to you what you want to run, just letting you know

yea ive ran a cxracing core on 2 of my cars... it works great

compared to....? they work yes, but not the best

2" is plenty for stock turbo. Also id be curious to compare the delta t of two different brand cores compared at the same cfm.

The FMIC I have right now has 2" inlet/outlet but I have an ebay one with 2.5" inlet/outlet laying around in the box I never got around to using on my last car so I am going to swap that in when I get the chance. I dont expect to see any gains, its more of I want all the piping moving air to be the same size.

Yeah I hear with with all over the place. The previous owner, who shall remain nameless since he was part of this forum, did a number on this car that he "babied". I have spent the last 12 months trying to afford fixing it and doing it all right. Still haven't figured out his fog light wiring job haha. My hope is to have the car all fixed up by spring...hopefully lol.

Lol yea my car was put back to stock apparently before I bought it...badly. Half the stock parts on it were broken or breaking, and I struggled to keep up with fixing each problem. Now that I've replaced pretty much every bolt on (mod list linked in sig) it runs pretty well. Though at the moment I'm trying to figure out the AEM F/IC I just bought. It has really nice features, but is very complex and there I'm pulling my hair out trying to find some assistance LOL.

For Xmas I got new front and rear swaybar bushings from $Unit, a craftsman toolbox set, and for the Bullitt a full set of Koni STR.T shocks and struts, can't wait to install all of it.

tommy, what are the dimensions of the fmic you will be removing? might buy it if the price is right ;)
