What have you done to your MS3 today?

I did not like your old wheels radar, I feel it didn't accent your car like it should. The new RPF1s look so sick, very nice choice! The only recommendation I have is paint the grill around the mazda emblem black to match the roof. I have it on mine, one of my favorite things I have done.

IMO these look much nicer than the old! How is the ride on 19"? any different?

thanx bro, yeah they are...we have 19's on the fam/wife's SP23 and no issues there for the past 4 years so i am used to it...we watch out for potholes more carefully but thats about it...

I LIKE the RPF-1's too. They may not be exciting in an immediate way, but they are good, sturdy, lightweight wheels that don't cost you your right arm.
I think its a very good overall choice, and a practical one too.
I considered these, but was staying in the 17" range for cost and weight savings. The 17" RPF-1's look like 15's, so I went with the Kosei K1-TS's instead and am also very happy with those... that and the $100 extra for the center caps was for me a turn off. that is not to detract from the wheel design, strength or beauty itself.

thanks man! yeah i am not done completely with the black accents...i was gonna do the grill but i am soooo anal i don't want end lines, being that its part of the bumper the grill and not separate...when john (jdp) gets done with the lip that will help as well...if john could do a clean layover in cf for the grill that would be kosher too...i am gonna do something on the hood but playing with ideas still...(work in progress)

so what exactly is the progress on the lip? Link to a thread for it? I remember reading about that somewhere, but can't remember.

I did my grill black and I do not have any lines on mine. I carefully taped mine off.

I took mine to the dealer for the clunks over transitions and bumps in the front end. I told them I thought it might be the sway bar bushings because the endlinks seemed tight (tried yanking on them to see if they would move or pop, didn't move at all).

But they are going to replace the struts and endlinks this coming Saturday. Hopefully I was wrong and it actually is the endlinks or struts because it was really annoying and don't want another dealer visit. The service manager was really nice about everything and seemed like a good dude.

3/36 Bumper to Bumper ends for me on 1/24/10 (seeing how as I am only at 24,000).

Just wondering if my "ping" noise from the struts I get over bumps is related at all, we will see once I get it back I guess.

I had the LF strut go bad at @25,000 miles. At 48,000 miles the car feels a lot more "floaty" and imprecise. It looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and decide when/whether to fit a proper suspension...(unamused)

Yeah I will probably be investing in a suspension setup in the future, but figured I get it checked out before the warranty is up.

The roads in this area are pretty rough so I am not surprised that the weak stock struts went because of it. So I am not expecting them to last another 24k...

I suppose that I shouldn't be all that surprised, but this is the first time that I've ever had to replace shocks on a car with less than 100,000 miles on the odometer- never mind 50,000...

Hmmm Yayyyy got the first CEL today (P0401: Exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient).. Have a dealer visit on Saturday so I am just going to leave it and tell them then.

I just finished installing the JBarone shift plate into my 08 Mazdaspeed3 and I am very happy with the results. I was worried at first because I have an aftermarket shift knob which is NOT weighted like the OEM knob.

Shift knob:

Install was fairly straight forward. Since I have a MS CAI I just removed the MAF section to give me a little more room to work. JBarone provides awesome instructions and everything is all laid out so even someone with limited experience working on cars could figure it out.

The product itself is a quality piece. I dropped it during install and the paint held up. The bolts, loctite, and lube is all provided. It looks quite nice in the engine bay and matches my custom True Red MS CAI.

I love driving with this shift plate. Shifts are much shorter and more crisp. I don't race or drag my car as it is just a daily driver for me, and this is going to definitely make shifting more fun. Before the shifter felt sloppy and loose, but now it feels rock solid and more reassuring that it is in gear. I like the fact that the stock height is retained while proving the shorter shifts.

Any questions just ask.

My 2007 did the same thing @2 weeks ago; luckily the problem is intermittent. I'm out of warranty so I'll probably fix it sooner or later...

Did you make that short shifter bracket or purchase it somewhere. I'd love to buy one of these.

Used the plans that JAMESCH provided and made my short shift bracket. Total cost: $1.22! All i had to was drive to McMaster-Carr and pick up the ball stud. Its cut as a rectangle right now since I wanted to see how I liked it before i started shaping and painting it. LOVE IT. So this weekend it will come off and be dazzled up complete with Red MS3 logo!!

Just got done changing the oil and filter, Mobil 1 5w-30 Extended Performance as always at 5000 mile intervals. I also changed out the cabin air filter and it is indeed a PITA to change. I used the youtube how to video posted by MazdaSpeedy3. Glad I don't have to do that again for another 30,000 miles. I'm taking a break and will go back into the garage to vaccuum and wipe down the interior in just a bit.
